What About Presidential Palace?

Thu, 18 Aug 2011 Source: Logan, Nancy

President Mills is very slow indeed. So it took him 32 months to realize that the security men at his house don’t have a washroom. I mean he is close to them and he couldn’t tell that they have no toilet. And now Anyidoho says; “So the policemen shouldn’t have a place” like that. Then how about the rest of us who aren’t close to him? How can he feel our plight. This is shameful.

On Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th August it was widely reported that the president had been making moves to get a toilet facility for the security men who are guiding his house. The security men are perching on someone’s property opposite his house. This raises a number of conflict of interest issues. We don’t want our president to become so cheap. That’s why after 50 years of independence, we now have a presidential palace. Peduase Lodge has also been renovated. Now Atta-Mills has refused to stay in the presidential palace. As for the Peduase Lodge, he takes pastors therefore occasionally to pray for him and to bribe them. The president is happy that Regimanuel Gray “feels proud” to have such a neighbor as the president.

The president in a letter to Regimanuel Gray asks permission to “erect tents on rental basis” on the estate developers land for the security men. He promises to pay for the rentals from his pocket. Okay. Now from hence, anytime the president travels with his security men, whether within Ghana or abroad, he must pay for the accommodation of the security. Unfair logic?

We have built a presidential palace for you? We are buying clothes for you. We are buying breakfast, lunch and supper for you. We are housing you. We have bought planes for you. You have accepted all except the presidential palace. Is this not cheap hypocrisy? We are tired of your hypocrisy.
