Ask Ekua Kwansema
In the last few weeks, the NPP government headed by President Kufour has been fumbling and doing certain things that makes them look miserable, shameful, incompetent, horrible and pathetic. I wonder whether some of the chain of degrees they hold are even genuine.
In case you missed what the Chief Justice Georgina Wood did on Monday, let me brief you. She came out to apologize to convicted commercial drivers who were fined or imprisoned wrongfully. Imprisoned wrongfully? She issued a statement, which was read on her behalf at a press conference that the drivers were fined or imprisoned based on an outdated law that has been amended by parliament. Drivers jailed or fined based on outdated law? My God, heaven help us for these NPP people are driving the country to the edge of the cliff. They are simply driving us crazy. And Ghanaians better keep their eyes open.
Chief Justice Wood is then reported to have stated “It was unintentional on the part of the courts to impose exorbitant fines, and subsequent prison terms on commercial drivers, for breaking traffic laws.” My God, what is this lady who called herself the Chief Justice thinking? Unintentional on the part of the courts to jail drivers or fine them?
If an elephant turns into a kangaroo, that is how it jumps around trying to throw dust into the eyes of people by blatantly deceiving them. So is Georgina Wood trying to tell Ghanaians that as Chief Justice she does not know what was going on until after the presidential elections hit round two? Is Ms. Wood telling Ghanaians that she does not know what laws are people being charged with? I will quit as Chief Justice if something like that happens under my watch.
My other question to Ms. Wood is when did she know that the law that has sent several innocent and struggling drivers who have families to unlawful jail terms is outmoded? My fellow Ghanaians, we really have to open our eyes because the NPP people are seriously taking the whole country for a ride. They are behaving as if Ghanaians are dummies who cannot think right. If that is not the case Adumadze Agyepong would not have referred to those who voted for Professor Mills during the first round of the presidential elections as out of their minds.
Imagine the firestorm and brimstones that the NPP people would have raised if this had been done by the NDC. Imagine how Akufo-Addo would have led a demonstration to demand the resignation of the Chief Justice. Imagine how the NPP people who call themselves the elitist in Ghana would have reacted. But the NPP people are all mute when innocent people have been fined heavily or jailed due to outmoded and bogus law that does not any longer exist in our law books. So would it be true to say that none of the lawyers in Ghana (NPP lawyers are in the majority) who acted, as defense lawyers for the drivers also know that the traffic law has changed? My God. And these people call themselves lawyers?
The elephant people who have trampled on Ghanaians and after flatting us out, suddenly turned themselves into kangaroos are seriously making fun of Ghanaians. Truly this is not a party that deserves to rule Ghana ever again. Period. They have demonstrated that they do not even know the law much more apply it to rule Ghanaians. As long as I live, I Ekua promises to fight any government that comes and take Ghanaians for granted. This is unheard of, this is wicked and this is unacceptable. And while some of these drivers are languishing in jail Georgina Wood may be sitting in the comfort of her dinning room eating chicken stew and rice.
If there is any period that should serve as an eye opener as to the true colours of the NPP, this is the time. Remember the speed with which they reduced the prices of fuel? Remember the speed with which they released some jailed commercial drivers? Remember the speed with which they paid salary arrears to railway workers, doctors and health services personnel? Remember the speed in which they are begging Ghanaians for undisclosed sins. If somebody does not know what sins you have committed against him how can he forgive you.
The elephant, which has now become a kangaroo, has been jumping around for a while. In fact its jumping has caused severe havoc and Ghanaians cannot afford to keep this kangaroo for another four years. We do not know where its continuous jumping would land us. Which is why I think its time to say Good Bye (Au Revue) to these people who took the goodwill of Ghanaians and raped the country clean for eight solid years.
By the way has anybody heard from the NPP what actual sins they have committed against Ghanaians? I would like to know the exact sins before I forgive them. Also, if the NPP people have any plans to steal this election by any means as Kwabena Agyepong has said, they better think twice. Such statements have made Rawlings the big pillar of democracy because when his party lost in 2000 he handed over power peacefully without resorting to any tricks to cling to power.
