When can the NDC Tell Rawlings ....

“YOU ARE WRONG”?

The story is told of a young village boy whose father bought him a “rubber ball”. The guy is not one of the Michael Essien’s in the village. In fact, he is a write-off when it comes to soccer antics. He organised his peers and warned them that whoever will attempt to say anything or behave in anyway suggestive of the fact that he is not a star will not partake in the fiesta he was organising. Instantaneously, they all yelled “Maradona, Maradona, Maradona".After achieving his sense of self worth and ego, and in a bid to hide away the fact that he is not an avid player, he declared "sinceI am the best player, I will be the referee. Whoever does not play to my satisfaction will be pulled out.” They replied “Agreed” (You dare disagree? You are automatically out then!).

Nothing amplifies the NDC situation more than the above. It is like one man is the monarch of all that he surveys and his word, the law. He pants, he roars, he booms and all the sycophants and bootlickers have got to do is to start a damage control exercise.

Have you for once asked yourself why it is only people in the NDC who understand the language and diction of the ex-President? It is sometimes with the greatest indignity to the academia when learned men and diplomats who should know better hastily jump in the defence of this man. Is the NDC really serious as a political party bent on recapturing political power?

Why will they attempt at explaining and in that regard, justifying the abuses, insults and invectives that he heaps on everybody to the extent of roping in religious leaders like Bishop Palmer Buckle, Maulvi Wahab Adam, Dr Mensah Otabil, etc? Do Mr Rawlings and the NDC know the large following that these respectable people command and the potential threats to their political fortunes as per these disparaging, unwarranted and unsubstantiated, and disdainful attacks? Do they know that their defence and rationalisation of these despicable booms amount to their endorsement of their founder’s vituperations as their official position?

It seems I’m worrying myself with all these probing questions as the party has openly endorsed anything ‘Rawlings’ as NDC. When the President accused the serial coup maker of being up to one of his machinations, the NDC, in their rebuttal to the President’s accusations, substituted Mr Rawlings with the NDC and said the President had accused the NDC, (and not Mr Rawlings) of planning a coup. Oh! General Mosquito, the professed Pentecost Elders, and co!!! Anyway, what else can they do? Remember the story at the beginning of the article?

The Christians believe that no matter their predicament, God knows best. The business magnates will tell you that the client is always right. To the NDC, Mr Boom is infallible, and they dare not think otherwise lest their cheeks will be at the mercy of someone’s hands.

When at all will some courageous, objective and well-meaning NDC loyalists be able to look Mr Rawlings in the face and tell him ‘please shut up for once because you are becoming more than a liability to us? We are tired of the damage controls. Enough is enough.”
