Under NDC Government

NDC: Rawlings spokespersons say friends and well wishers are paying for the cost of Rawlings’ children’s school fees in the UK.

NPP: The NPP opposition ridicules this claim and call for an enquiry.

Under NPP Government

NPP: Presidential aspirants say friends and well wishers are paying for their extravagant campaigns.

NDC: The NDC opposition ridicules this claim and call for an enquiry.

Macro Economic Statistics

Under NDC Government

NDC: The NDC praises itself for stabilizing the economy.

NPP: The NPP through Albert Kan Dapaah replies that these are mere figures that don’t reflect in the daily lives of the people (Statesman Newspaper, 21st February 1999).

Under NPP Government

NPP: The NPP praises itself for stabilizing the economy.

NDC: The NDC says the people cannot feel these statistics in their pockets.

Road Construction

Under NDC Government

NDC: The NDC is credited for constructing major roads.

NPP: The NPP opposition states emphatically that “the people don’t eat roads.”

Under NPP Government

NPP: The NPP takes credit for continuous road expansion.

NDC: The NDC says “I thought you said the people don’t eat roads.”

Fuel Prices

Under NDC Government NDC: The NDC does nothing to its fuel price of 6,400 per gallon in the face of protests.

NPP: The NPP Flag bearer Mr. J.A. Kufuor lifts a gallon of petrol at several demonstrations and insists the 6,400 cost of a gallon of petrol is too much and so are its tax build up.

Under NPP Government

NPP: The NPP does nothing about fuel price hikes from 6,400 when they took office to the current excess of 43,000 per gallon.

NDC: The NDC continues to complain about the astronomic fuel price hikes.

Size of Government

Under NDC Government

NDC: The NDC is inundated by criticism from the opposition about the large size of government but doesn’t downsize.

NPP: The NPP reiterates at all fora, rallies and demonstrations that the number of ministers are too much.

Under NPP Government

NPP: President J.A. Kufuor says; sorry folks, in opposition I had the wrong picture about the size of Government.

NDC: The NDC is the one now doing the reiteration at all fora, rallies and demonstrations that the present size of Government which has beaten their record is unacceptable.

Presidential Support for a successor

Under NDC Government

NDC: The NDC’s founder, President J.J. Rawlings declares support for his Vice President Atta Mills to succeed him as President.

NPP: The NPP ridicules this move and comes out with a campaign slogan that “a vote for Mills is a vote for Rawlings.”

Under NPP Government

NPP: A group calling itself “Concerned Organisers and Youth Organisers of the NPP” accuses President Kufuor of supporting Allan Kyerematen.

NDC: The NDC expresses surprise that Allan Kyerematen’s Campaign Youth Wing states that “If the President supports Allan and so what?”

Do the people of Ghana, deserve this kind of politics?
