The incessant nasty clashes between the police and military in the Tamale metropolis is most embarrassing, unfortunate and uncalled for. This free-for-all fracas experienced in the streets of Tamale is a serious time bomb that must be nipped in the bud before it explodes into a security challenge.
The men in uniform are deployed to the Tamale outpost to maintain peace, order and security. On a rather shameful manner, not only are they relenting in living up to expectations but are now actively involved in fanning disorder straining the already shaky stability in the Northern region to the limits.
Are the good people of Tamale safe at all? It will be disastrous if we cannot trust the sticky hands of the watchman who keep an eye over us. We are doomed if the watchmen we have utmost trust in are suffering from chronic kleptomania.
Tamale and by extension the Ghanaian state is not a jungle but a state govern by rules and regulations and for that matter cannot be turned to a rogue town by people who should know better. No security apparatus in the county is immune from the dictates of our statues and cannot misconduct themselves as though they are above the law. A proper probe must go into this and any element found culpable must be given marching orders from the barracks.
The natives of the Northern region, REGSEC, Chiefs and opinion leaders must rise up strongly to send a message to the misguided security men that we cannot accept the brazen professional irresponsibility any more. The narrative must change!
