Letter From The President: Phone lines for spindoctors?

Fri, 17 Nov 2006 Source: J. A. Fukuor/Daily Dispatch

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents, What is this I hear about MY government spending more than 36 billion cedis to secure phone lines and internet connections for so-called defenders of the administration’s policies? According to newspaper reports I read just when I returned from my Asian junket, the Information Ministry has been wasting large sums of the tax payers’ money on the phone bills of various people who are supposed to be helping to “disseminate Government policies and programmes to the public”. These people are essentially spin doctors who are supposed to go on radio and television to tell Jack and Jill stories to citizens and make them believe that government does no wrong and everything we do is in their interest.
