It?s been four months now since Ghana participated in her first World Cup in Germany, and one would have expected that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) would come out with a statement of account as to how much money was collected from corporate Ghana, and how much was spent.
I am sure the GFA may have lost count of how much money they collected, for at certain times different bodies including the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports collected some money on their behalf with the promise of paying them into the FA?s account.
Undoubtedly, it was the first time the Black Stars had had such a huge sponsorship package, aside the three million dollars from headline sponsors, Gold Fields Ghana Limited.
I only want to caution the GFA not to take the silence of the public and the corporate world as weakness, for eyes are watching.
In order for the GFA to cleanse itself of the perception of embezzlement it should fully publish an audited account to convince the pubic that when moneys are given to them in the future they will be accounted for.
There is a limit to which our goodwill can last. The GFA should be humble and tell the public how our money was spent.
