Letter From The President: Darkness@50 intensified

Fri, 30 Mar 2007 Source: J. A. Fukuor/Daily Dispatch

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents, our country has just gotten darker – literally. The incompetents at the electricity-generating company have just announced that the little power they have been rationing for the past seven months needs to be rationed even more. From this week therefore, every household in Sikaman (except those of the ‘big men’) will suffer a 12-hour blackout every other day. This is quite apart from the ‘regular’ light-offs that have plagued the country for so long – even before the power rationing started. What this means is that you are very likely to endure about 12 to 24 hours without electricity within every 48-hour period. Like they say in the land of the Bushman, “this really sucks”.
