Letter From The President: In-out-out-why?

Fri, 4 May 2007 Source: J. A. Fukuor/Daily Dispatch

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents

I am not very happy with recent happenings at the University of Legon. I have been hard pressed to just wait and see what happens but with each passing day, I see the situation increasingly getting out of hand. The university authorities have completely ran out of ideas, the students are getting impatient and irrationally, resorting to ‘Talibanic’ tactics to make themselves heard and most seriously, the education ministry is either unconcerned or totally clueless.

The issue has to do with the university’s so-called “academic policy”. And what a policy it is – only first-year students will stay in the halls of residence. All others will have to find their own lodgings (outside the campus).
