The subliminal message in this article is not meant for every reader, particularly those who have carved notoriety for themselves, and have rejected reason. As a Ghanaian, and for the love of my nation, I call for the cessation of needless hostilities, and invite fine minds to the table to debate on issues that are pertinent to our nation’s intellectual development.

As many would agree with me, the protracted wrangles evidenced, lately, on Ghanweb has devalued our nation’s image as a tolerant society, which begs the question; what is the substantive worth of democracy, when the advocates of this system call for the demise of their adversaries, and curse them with brimstones?


Those who cannot withstand intellectual engagements should find something productive to do with their life, and in a different chatroom, where intellectual orthodoxies are non-exist. Those who have made it their daily habit to attack the dignity of the Sarfo-Adjeis must be condemned unreservedly. It does not surprise me that, those who assault Sarfo-Adjei are the the ones who have never picked up a pen to put together innovate ideas for critique. Matter of fact, their Chief-Scribe tried once, only to find that, his article on “brain power” lacked the scholarly patina, and could not even appeal to preschoolers. Interestingly, the “supposed” female among them who fled the blitzkrieg of Seckago and his Moral Brigade on “Say It Loud” has found her hoarse voice to comment on feature articles; " xexemefe agbemenyawo sogbo"


A surgical analysis of the above highlights the failure of our nation’s education, one of the many key areas of socialization, in cultivating in the lettered Ghanaian, the discipline that one can be augmentative, and not be disrespectful toward others. Rather than tolerate plurality, some commentators continue to use this “talk-shop” as a platform to engage in behaviours that are untypical of engaging minds. Not only is their unrefined gatekeeping attitude a disgrace to our nation, it also exposes to the outside world the level of our intellectuality, and crudity in accommodating opposing views.

Language plays a critical rolein human expression, and there cannot be any justification for its misapplication, or abuse, for that matter. Rather than engage these cyber rabble-rousers, and fall knee-deep, into their maggot-filled cesspit, fine minds must exercise maximum restraint to preserve their nobility, and stature among their admirers. After all, there will be no Ghanaweb without fine scholars such as the few Sarfo-Adjeis. Losing the remaining voices of moderation will leave the site at the mercy of “agent provocateurs,” whose sole aim is to win intellectual battles, not through civil engagements but, foul-mouthed language, and intimidation.


While I do not have the authority to prevent certain commentators from fielding their undeveloped thoughts, we could exercise our right to avoid their comments, and not feed into their sense of grandeur, and delusions. After all, we have nothing to lose by doing the preceding, except to shed their ill-mannerisms, and the insanity they take for machismo. Let’s deny these unscrupulous characters the unsavory reputation they are desperately seeking to earn. A fool will always sing a song, and reject the admonition of the sage that, this is the time for solemnity, and not the time for “odensuomu agoro” for a prance. Mawu-Dzitato Neve Mianu.
