Why Professor Mills must win ....

Thu, 25 Dec 2008 Source: Fiagbeto, Yao

the Presidential Election come December 29, 2008

This viewpoint is directed to compatriots in the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions. We all know that both candidates, Professor Mills and Nana Akuffo Addo are very competent individuals and I would be doing disservice to the nation if I ignore the goodness and the love both candidates have for Ghana. In the same breadth naïve on my part if I ignore all the developmental progress report of the NPP which I believed was the continuation of NDC third phase of Ghana’s infrastructure development initiatives.

Both Candidates made a valid case in the first presidential election in relations to attack and promises to you the Ghanaian voter. But the most compelling cases in which Professor Mills clearly distinguished himself from Nana was community economic empowerment zones which will voluntarily attract graduates of different disciplines and persuasions, an environment for enhancing the innovational spirits of graduates of all levels toward developing and improving local viable economic resources with maximum jobs incentives and satisfaction. Nana also mentioned creating factories in every district but failed to mention how those industries will relate to graduates and the people from the districts at large. His plan pertaining to Ghanaian voter is a goose chase, one of those industries that will feed on foreign materials thereby becoming a ghost well if not in a short-run but in long-run.

Therefore, before going to your polling stations and ready to cast your ballot on that faithful December 29, 2008 please ask yourself this question, despite my ethnic and party affiliation with Nana Akuffo Addo, do I want one party rule in Ghana or a rotational party system of government where opposition strive? If people in the Ashanti, Eastern and Western region truly believe in democracy with equal opportunity for all, then you must negate Nana and let him take the fall and cast your vote for Professor Attah Mills. Such action on your part will show your diverse democratic maturity in the context of our African realities and experience.

After eight years of NPP, NDC must also be given the chance to rule in a rotational party spirit, an honest realization not only to satisfy our ethnic compositions in Ghana but democratic maturity befitting situations in the Ghanaian environment. Such rotational party governance will serve as a yardstick that will eventually subdued ethnic first impressions which plagues the NPP these eight years. Professor Mills despite his qualifications my brothers and sisters from the Ashanti, Western and Eastern regions, he has shown to the world that his government just like his predecessor President Rawlings is equally comfortable working and serving Ghanaians with other ethnic diverse backgrounds.

Professor Mills is the Man to unite and move Ghana forward, why do I say this? Take a close look at Professor Mills’s campaign entourage and insiders web and compare to Nana Akuffo Addo, you will find out that around Professor Mills there is a rainbow coalition of Ghanaian ethnic background in higher echelon of his campaign, but I am sorry to say the opposite can be said about Nana Akuffo Addo campaign.

These are my humble plea to my distinguished brothers, sisters, friends and in-laws in the aforementioned regions of Ghana to look beyond party and ethnic affiliations and vote for PROFESSOR ATTAH MILLS December 29, 2008.

God bless you All! God Bless Ghana.
