Akufo-Addo’s Farcical Plan To Fight Cocaine Menace!

Wed, 22 Dec 2010 Source: The Informer

Honestly, is it that Akufo-Addo thinks that Ghanaians are fools, or he has a mental problem which is now manifesting itself in various ways?

In a lame attempt to run away from the disgraceful Weakileaks revelation that Kufuor’s Administration was actively involved in the narcotics trade and that it was appropriate when the NDC christened the NPP, Narcotics Peddlers Party, Akufo-Addo has had the impish audacity to issue a statement claiming that in the unlikely event that he becomes President of Ghana, he has a solid strategy to fight the drug menace? Jesus Christ of Nazareth!!!

Akufo-Addo too talking about fighting the drug war? Ah! Ah! Ah!

To be frank, when we heard the contents of the statement, we had no option but to conclude that whoever pieced the words together, must have been extremely high on some illegal substance because no correct person coming from Akufo-Addo’s camp will put such words together knowing the extent to which Akufo-Addo played an active role in turning Ghana into an attractive destination for the drugs trade during the tenure of Kufuor.

Akufo-Addo must really be orbiting in a realm of self-deceit because were he orbiting in the real world, Akufo-Addo would be the last person to issue a statement on how to fight the drug menace because the NPP flagbearer has no moral authority to talk about fighting the drug war.

Especially when it is very obvious (per the weakileaks report) that His Excellency President Atta Mills is comprehensively showing commitment to fighting the drug menace, with barons running away from Ghana, Akufo-Addo should be the last person to wade into waters that will sink him.

If it is the case that Akufo-Addo has repented, and so wants Ghanaians to believe that he is a new man and a new creation, then he should be bold and make an open statement about his repentance; but if Akufo-Addo is still the same Akufo-Addo that supported Kufuor to turn Ghana into the Cocaine Coast of the world, then Akufo-Addo must be sick in the head if he thinks that lame statement of his will convince any right-thinking Ghanaian that the NPP Flagbearer has a master plan to wage a war on drugs and the drug barons.

For starters, as Attorney General of Ghana, was it not Akufo-Addo who de-confiscated the assets of a certain Raymond Amankwah, a known international drug baron?

Raymond Amankwah’s assets were seized by the Rawlings Administration in line with international laws on confiscation of assets of persons involved in the narcotics trade.

Without any due regard to the internationally accepted rules of engagement, Akufo-Addo singlehandedly de-confiscated Raymond Amankwah’s assets.

Incidentally, Raymond Amankwah happens to be Akufo-Addo’s brother-in-law.

Indeed, it is a fact Akufo-Addo has benefited substantially from Raymond Amankwah’s dirty drug money.

When the NPP is desperate to claim that the NDC Government also had a known drug baron in its midst, they make reference to a certain Frank Benneh.

The truth of the matter is that, Frank Benneh was a grade B foreign officer who was addicted to drugs and got busted in Switzerland (he was on postings to that country) when he went into a ghetto to purchase drugs.

Per the accepted way of handling such matters, Frank Benneh was recalled by the Government of the day and put before court.

Indeed, Frank Benneh was convicted by a competent court of jurisdiction and was appealing his sentence when the NPP took over the reins of Government in 2001.

Immediately the NPP took over, Akufo-Addo, the Attorney General, filed a nolle prosequei which stated that the State was no longer interested in pursuing the case, allowing Frank Benneh to be a free man.

The said Frank Benneh ended up being a key member of Akufo-Addo’s campaign team during the 2008 general election and was seen several times in the company of Akufo-Addo.

Apart from Frank Benneh, a certain Mike Amfo Kwakye, a close aide and fiancier of Akufo-Addo, is a known ex-convict who served time in an American jail for trafficking drugs.

In Ghana today, Akufo-Addo’s law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co, is the number one law firm that defends drug barons.

All high profile drug cases in Ghana (at least since 2001) have had lawyers from Akufo-Addo’s chambers defending the drug barons.

The likes of lawyer Kwame Akuffo, Atta Akyea and co, are the lawyers who have been defending drug barons; and they are all associated with Akufo-Addo’s chambers.

It is a known secret that Akufo-Addo’s chambers is the place where all the legal decisions are taken in respect of making sure that the drug barons have their way in Ghana.

Indeed, in the wake of the damning Weakileaks reports that Kufuor’s regime supported the drugs trade and that the activities of the NPP were financed by drug money, it is crystal clear that Akufo-Addo and his law chambers were deeply involved in turning Ghana into the major hub of the international drug trade.

It was Akufo-Addo who tried to get Parliament to pass a law that will allow Ghanaians serving time in foreign jails on drug related charges to come back to Ghana ostensibly to finish their jail terms.

The real motive behind that move, was to bring the barons back to Ghana and free them.

The barons were working for the NPP and Akufo-Addo hence the move to make sure that when they get busted abroad, they come back home under the guise of coming to end their jail terms in Ghana but end up being free men so they can continue their drug business.

As Foreign Minister, Akufo-Addo claimed that lots of diplomatic passports got stolen from a safe in his office.

Very credible intelligence information has it that the passports were not stolen; they were distributed to drug barons and their couriers to facilitate their travels in and out of Ghana.

In other words, drug barons were using Ghana’s diplomatic passports to facilitate their drug business.

Meanwhile, as Foreign Minister, Akufo-Addo had no right to keep diplomatic passports in his office.

Yes, Foreign Ministers are not the ones who keep passports; passports are kept by the Accountant General because they are considered to be valuable documents; the Director of passports makes requests through the Director of Research of the Foreign Ministry; and that is the legal procedure for Ghana’s passports management.

Foreign Ministers only give approval for the issuance of diplomatic passports for those outside the agreed diplomatic passports range; and even that is upon the instructions of the President of the Republic.

So the question is; what were the diplomatic passports doing in Akufo-Addo’s office?

Besides, it is also not true that there is a safe in the Foreign Minister’s office.

To cut a long story short, Akufo-Addo illegally kept diplomatic passports in his office; claimed the passports got stolen; but those passports ended up in the hands of drug barons.

And it is this Akufo-Addo, who has such a nauseating record when it comes to being an integral part of the narcotics trade in Ghana, who is insulting the intelligence of Ghanaians by issuing that useless statement claiming that he has an antidote to fighting the drug menace?

When Akufo-Addo got his longtime lover and sex mate, Ursula Owusu, to be on the NACOB Board, was it not for the reason of protecting his interest in terms of getting NACOB to allow the drug trade to flow waa waa waa?

Indeed, sometime last year, did Ursula not confess on one of Metro TV’s Good Morning Programmes that President Atta Mills is wasting his time fighting the drug barons because she knows it for a fact that the barons have invested heavily in Ghana and so will surface again once the dust settles?

So, what does Akufo-Addo take Ghanaians for such that he will insult our intelligence with that rubbish-of-a-statement?

A bunch of idiots who don’t know their left from their right?

Does Akufo-Addo think that Ghana is full of wee-smoking and cocaine-sniffing deadheads and so he can issue such a statement and get away with it?

Maybe the likes of Gyankromah Fumi Akufo-Addo, in her state of drunken stupor, will believe her father’s nonsense but the majority of Ghanaians know that Akufo-Addo does not have what it takes to wage any war against the drug menace.

The Informer may not have the right to advice Akufo-Addo but our small advice to him is that, when it comes to fighting the drug menace, he should keep his mouth shut because the less senseless noise he makes, the less people will know that he thinks Ghanaians are fools.

Akufo-Addo, Ghanaians are not fools ooo; “ye nim wu firi titi” so we know that you are not only allegedly heavily addicted to drugs, but you are also, per logical deduction, a key member of the drugs trade in Ghana and so when decent people like President Atta Mills are talking about fighting the drug menace, keep your mouth shut lest you make it more than obvious that you are an idiot who thinks that everybody else in Ghana is also an idiot.
