You are hopelessly naïve. Corruption is a problem in Africa, but it is also far worse in many other places compared to Africa. However, corruption is far minute of a problem compared to Chattel Slavery. Slavery lasted more than 400 years and it literally generated trillions of dollars that funded all the West's institutions of global dominance including finance, banking, health, academic, manufacturing, automotive, etc. Your article is a great example of downplaying the effects of Slavery on the modern world in order to please your white massa.

B. Corruption: This is like sailing in your own ship, and you or someone within your crew punch hole in the ship for water to leak inside - to sink the ship.

Slave Trade was obviously evil, but without facilitation of people within, it would not have been successful. The enemy within is dangerous than the enemy far away from you.

I think writer made a lot of sense. Slave trade was evil, and ought compared with anything ... but the enemy punching hole inside our ship is our real enemy.

No sensible person don't think that selling and cruel treatment of another human worse than ones pet animals is not corruption of the highest form.
When you who subjected such human to this lowest form, happens to define how such slave is educated , what good can come out of such education? Corrupt teacher can only teach corruption and produce corruption.

Akufo Addo"s own ancestor, Nana Ofori Atta1 , was exiled by the British in the 1880s to Lagos because of his role in Slavery after it was abolished. Our own Ashanti Kings were angry with the British for abolishing the slave trade and human sacrifice in the Gold Coast in the 1830s, yet, Ashanti Kings were still engaged in it right until Prempeh 1 got his comeuppance in 1896.
Nigeria, had been pumpimg millions of barrel a day for over 70 years yet their fantastically corrupt leaders have no tangible infrastructure in place for the benefit of the people. Umaru Dikko, Abacha, Shagari, Obasanjo, Yar Adua etc all stole billions of dollars from state coffers.
Just look at the sickening and utterly corrupt way Akufo Addo and his bunch of thieves raped and plundered Ghana within the last eight years.
On slavery, African slave sellers were paid. Obrempong Kwadwo, the father of Philip Quarcoe, a renowned Gold Coast Slave trader was paid £7 every two weeks by his white British partners in the 1700s. Our Ashanti Kings were also handsomely paid by their Dutch slave partners. Yet, we convenieniently ignore their role and blame the white man for everything. So you have never heard of the achievements of ancient Africa in terms of the civilizations in the Mali empire, the Ghana empire and so on.

Look, if Africa were to maltreat other races or continents like America and Europe did and they still continue to do, we would have been far better than they are today.

When the British abolished slavery and human sacrifice in the Gold Coast in the 1830s. Our own slave raiding ,slave trading and blood thirsty human
sacrificing Ashanti Kings will have none of it because that was their main source of income. They were still selling slaves illegally to the Brazilians, Americans, Portuguese etc , until utterly useless Prempeh 1 got his comeuppance in 1896.
In Nigeria, millions and millions of barrels of oil worth billions of dollars are constantly stolen by their leaders, they have been churning out oil for over 70 years, yet they have no good schools, roads, electricity, potable water or hospitals because of corruption. Now, a country like Britain invented Railways, Steel Manufacturing, TV, Antibiotics,Portland cement etc and they got rich out of their inventions.
What exactly did our slave trading chiefs do with the money that they were paid? We know because Obrepong Kwadwo, the father of Philip Quacoe ,a slave trader was paid the vast sum of seven pounds every two weeks for selling slaves. What did he do for his people in Cape Coast in the 1700s? Lastly, you wrote a lot of "Nkwaseasem" without reading or understanding what the erudite and sensible young man called Samoa Mensa wrote.You are anything but wise. Cheers!.
