  The bombing was not an isolated incident but a climax of intense political violence and rivalry, driven by several key factors:
  Political Vengeance: Opposition to a Unitary State: The NLM, rooted in Ashanti regionalism, fiercely opposed the CPP's push for a unitary government. They advocated for a federal system and used violent tactics to make the country ungovernable to force a constitutional change.
  Preventing Independence Under the CPP: The NLM, along with other opposition groups, aimed to stop the independence process under the leadership of Nkrumah, whom they viewed as a dictator.
  Long-standing Bitter Rivalry: The political climate in 1955 was characterized by "Action Troopers" (armed gangs) of the NLM attacking CPP strongholds in Ashanti, bombing homes, and murdering opponents.
