Could not agree more. Fathers who have doubts can pay individually for paternity testing. There should be no mandate. And parliament should earn their salaries doing useful work.

Islam actually instructs male followers to accept any child their adulterating wives bring home from outside without question and also to refrain from holding them accountable. This explains why he is on the rampage chastising parliament.

What I mean is, polygamous Mubarak must have several illegitimate kids populating his house(Kind of payback from his wives for his multiple affairs), so he finds parliament's intents vexatious.

Adultery and promiscuity is the scourge of our societies nowadays so we have to do something to relieve men from looking after illegitimate children till they are adults, then the woman pulls the secret.

Those so called Gender advocates and feminists claimed women suffrage, women liberation and so on but never told women that there are concepts like accountability and responsibility. It has dawned on all of us that women should take responsibility for their actions if they want equality. As much as women seek freedom and rights as a right, which is good, they will also have to bear the responsibility which accompanies Rights.

@Efua Po, as we buy sanitary pads for women in Ghana, and i know that you support that, this is a small thing that can be done for men too. Or?

I remember my Family Law Prof in law school who was a consummate feminist in Law School and her earlier practice. She was very vicious against men and she pursued men using laws that she vociferously advocated and indeed influenced in England.

Fast forward, she gave birth to two males and their ex wives used the very laws she championed and used against men in her earlier practice. At the time that we were in her class, the two sons she loved with no exception were cleaned by their ex wives till they virtually became paupers who couldn't afford a home of their own. That is the only time that she was responsible and accountable.

At the time that we were in her class, she was totally against feminism and its spin off.

Look, paternity test will come to stay as in a fair society, we cannot disadvantage men all because we want to please women. If you open your legs for different men, you have no right to pin the illegitimate child on the one you think has money.

In that same way, a woman should not be given license to go out of her home, have sex with other men then pin it on her husband.

If we have rights for women, we should accord Rights for men too.

Simple.

That useless and wasteful bill must be defeated. That visionless politician attempting that have that bill passed into law apparently is too blind to see that most babies in Ghana aren't born at hospitals. So what peace of mind is there when that useless bill is targeting only births at hospitals? And how is that hospital DNA bill going to be funded? Is the sponsor of that bill even aware that most Ghana hospitals do not the tools to offer DNA testing? What Ghana needs is hospital testing for breast cancer; hospital testing colon and prostrate diseases; hospital testing for hypertension since far too many Ghanaians are walking around with that disease without even being aware that they have it; public education awareness about the causes of hypertension, how to prevent it, and how to treat it when a diagnosis ids positive for the disease. That "Whuz Ya Daddy" bullshit legislation belongs in a reality tv program. Rural areas in all the regions of Ghana are struggling to get clean drinking water and decent public toilets, and you want to waste resources doing DNA testing of all births in hospitals. Insane and absolutely visionless.

What you all ignore, or stubbornly refuse to understand is that, there's no way to be suspicious of a new child at birth not being for the man! So he signs and the certificate and engages responsibility of the child only to be confronted at a later date, mostly over 10 years, that the child isn't for him.

A DNA law is supposed to spare men the misfortune of having to waste time, energy and money on an illegitimate child and on top of it all, a devastating heartbreak ending in melancholic suicidal tendencies for some!

I know of a lady who at one time declared her hubby wasn't father of any of her 4 kids at a time when their first child, a young lady, was 18 years old! That man was a very prominent musician. He died two weeks later from heartbreak.

The above are the actions that indirectly condition females to cheating leading to the nonsense paternity test situation. All men must have sex with only the women or the land they have paid bride price to be with. Or dont men know women are lands? This is the only legal way. Can any man take a land that doesnt belong to him and not endanger his life? Men answer this. Unfortunately, this is what you do to peoples inheritance in the sight of God. The nonsense of throwing the stone! just know cheating lies at your door if you dont repent after stealing someone's daughter without asking from their owners. Woman is the only being God ordained not to be used for free. You pay to own them. Anything aside this is robbery. How many percent of men are robbers here?

As you are at it, this idea of The Women's Bank should be stopped because today, no one is disadvantage male or female in acquiring loans for business.

You should advocate against the policy where more females are required to be enrolled in the law faculties to meet a quota.

In all these, my taxes are used meanwhile i don't get a single benefit.

Take for instance, the lady who's father recently went with her to the Embassy for US visa and discovered the girl wasn't his. I think the lady was 24 years or more. It means, for 24 years, he was made to understand she was his daughter! Do you realize the devastation it might have caused the man? His behavior suddenly changed toward the girl, and his wife, the girl's mother is already gone, leaving the girl very desperate, so she turned to the media, asking questions.

There's nothing wrong assuming responsibility of a child a woman you love brings to you. What's being discussed in parliament follows current trend people judge as very wrong and unprincipled in a society deemed very religious.
