Shame On Bigots, Charlatans And Religious Fanatics

Sat, 23 Jul 2011 Source: Ansah, Nana

"We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another." --Jonathan Swift

"Man is a Religious Animal. He is the only Religious Animal. He is the only animal that has the True Religion—several of them. He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat if his theology isn’t straight." --Mark Twain

When collective amnesia takes center stage and gives way to selective amnesia of biblical and historical facts, then it sadly results in groupthink of collective stupidity. That is what is happening in Ghana today. Believe you me, I am very certain that God does not hate the people we hate, be it Homosexuals or otherwise. God is rational not irrational being like us.

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it with religious conviction." -- Blaise Pascal

When pagans embrace religion they exaggerate it to the fullest. Not long many of you in your villages were worshipping gods. Pagans newly turned Christians and now “born again” have a fanatic obsession and possession of God. Constantine is one of many examples Pagan turned Christian. Theirs become a race of who wins not who serves God. They forget that heaven is FREE and faith in God cannot be quantified. Bigots who call themselves born again. What a nation!

"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." Albert Einstein

What impairs some us from reasoning which results in weird arguments is our inability to think and differentiate between faith, religion or politics. These bigots who try to quantify faith in numbers are nothing but poor souls lacking inner wealth. The reckless thoughts of some politicians and recently so called “men of God” is alarming if not close to the 11th hour. Men of God who preach water but drink wine and lavish around with their ill-gotten wealth. Good God! Jesus died penniless.

"Of all bad men, religious bad men are the worst." --C.S. Lewis

The dogma of Christianity is reciprocal affection. Love your neighbor as yourself and do unto others as you want them to do unto you. Where did this Golden rule lose its charm?

"Things that will destroy man: Politics without principle; pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character; business without morality; science without humanity; worship without sacrifice." --Mohandas Gandhi

No long ago white people considered us blacks inferior then mistreated us and sold in droves into slavery. They then colonized us until we fought back to gain our independence. It was 500 years of brutality. They took what they want from our soil without asking to make their respective countries rich. No long ago the late MLK was marching on the streets of America against racism and discrimination of Blacks in the inability to vote. No long ago apartheid reared its ugly head in South Africa and the only crime Nelson Mandela (27 years in prison) committed was to question why indigenous South Africans were disenfranchised?

In all this circumstances we were all in the same boat. The White rulers never gave a damn whether you are Homosexual or Heterosexual, Christian or Muslim, man or woman. We were all treated like animals. Hardly had we gotten out of this calamity, we turn ourselves on fellow citizens because these minorities are not straight enough. Tribal insults with a bad taste that has now led to front tail aphrodisiac prowess. “Ask the women” a presidential candidate would proclaim on campaign trail .Ghanaians/Black people will deny anything which seem unusual to them. Because we shut our minds to the scientific approach which explains such phenomenon. Whether somebody is straight or queer, it is not my business. We have a lot straight guys who do not take responsibility for the numerous children they scattered around. How can one person have 30 children or more? This burdens the nation resulting in social ills, street kids, thievery etc. Ghanaian men cheating on their wives or pastors robbing others of their wives. Corrupt officials who steal to finance these mushroom churches and so on. Put a lid on these ills first. And by the way, the Osu castle the seat of the government not a prayer camp.

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein

We said cancer is white man’s disease although prostate cancer and other forms of tumors were rife in society across the board.

We said aids is white man’s disease until we started dying like flies. The list goes on.

Then we say Homosexuality is unGhanaian when we all know the phrase Kwodwo Besia / man woman with inference to a boy who behaves like girl. Gracious me! Ghanaians are hypocrites and liars.

We are always in a state of denial due to illiteracy. I bet you, the day Jesus will step on earth, if he does not show up in Ghana the same Ghanaians would ask for his head. What a folk!

"Religious creeds encourage some of the craziest kinds of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and favor severe manifestations of neurosis, borderline personality states, and sometimes even psychosis." - Albert Ellis

Google or Yahoo! the list of animals that practice Homosexual or transgender sex and you will find thousands of them. But the illiterate Ghanaian/Black people will say even animals don’t do that. Sheep, dolphins and a host of other animals mate with same sex. Due to our lack of observation and research in this regard we groupthink by making acclamation. It does not exist but only in our lazy minds. If the downward trend of affairs in knowledge continue this way then Hosea 4:6 will come to pass in Maame Ghana.

"In the beginning the church was a fellowship of men and women centering on the living Christ. Then the church moved to Greece where it became a philosophy. Then it moved to Rome where it became an institution. Next, it moved to Europe, where it became a culture. And, finally, it moved to America where it became an enterprise."--Richard Halverson

The church is now money making machine, I mean the ATM’s in Ghana/Africa at every corner. Within a radius of 1 kilometer you would find a dozen churches. They would not let tired workers sleep due to their noise pollution which in turn reduces efficiency at work.

Mathew: 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

The first and great commandment as it appears in Deuteronomy: Deuteronomy 6:4 ¶ Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: 5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Mathew: 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The second commandment as it appears in Leviticus

Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.

Which meant that all that Jesus was saying has been said before. Not anything new.

Would anyone of one of us dare ask the sexuality of our lord although he was single at the age of 33 years? Certainly not.

"Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned." –Unknown

"Christians, needless to say, utterly detest one another; they slander each other constantly with the vilest forms of abuse, and cannot come to any sort of agreement in their teaching. Each sect brands its own, fills the head of its own with deceitful nonsense." --Celsus (178 AD)

Believe me to be, this was one the reasons why Jesus angrily drove the clergy out of the church because they were morally bankrupt and corrupted the message of God. Today, it is not different, both our politicians and pastors are bankrupt of ideas as to how to move this beloved nation Maame Ghana forward so they now engage in silly banal talk shop and hop from one radio to the other to jive talk which does not move this country any bit further. A country of talkers not doers but swimming in oasis of debt. From money debt to knowledge debt. We are just bankrupt on everything. God save our motherland Ghana from bigots, charlatans and religious fanatics.

"We used to do things for posterity; now we do things for ourselves and leave the bill to posterity." --Anonymous

We still face forward. Long live the children of Maame Ghana in Love, Peace and Happiness.
