In such hard times, especially when Ghanaians grabble over 32% annual increased demand for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), political party activity in the CPP is becoming more and more interesting as Samia prepares to launch broad-based fundraising campaign for the party. After following people’s reaction on this announcement in an interview on *Citi fm’s Eyewitness *and to my expectation, many constituency members were willing to contribute to this course. It is indeed a timely announcement. GOD BLESS YOU, SAMIA.
Meanwhile, as she proceeds with her brilliant innovative ideas, some unknown individuals are attempting to hoist the selfish desire of Nduom who is so desirous of becoming the party’s flag bearer. Nduom’s intention is to denigrate our popular march to congress. The CPP is more important for growth than one’s presidential agenda. At least, we expected that Nduom will lead in proposing such innovative party activity as Samia has done for the party. Rather, he prefers always to be identified as the richest. Why can’t he restrain his individualistic approach and be a little concern about the severe LPG shortages in the country, if he is indeed interested in salvaging the economy?
Between 1982 and 1985, the national economy demand for LPG was about 5,000 tonnes but has astronomically gone up to nearly 25,000 tonnes, nearly 56.7 million litres since 2003. The NDC when in opposition promised Ghanaians that they will fully investigate the mystery of TOR’s indebtedness of about ¢5 trillion despite the imposition and collection of the TOR debt recovery levy under the NPP administration. Since the release of the auditor general’s report in their first year, there has been no serious action as to where the money passed, despite the ruckus about the actual debt. Under such severe hardship, we expected Nduom to sympathize with the suffering masses and provide clear cut alternatives, if the CPP were to be in power. Moreover NDC promised to expand local cylinder manufacturing capacity in support of the LPG program, yet they forget that the country’s supply stock can only last for 3 days. What is their priority when they can’t commensurate their intention to expand a sub-sector industry with what could make it grow. Meanwhile, Nduom is not concerned. He is so much enthused about his selfish desire to the extent that he is instructing some elements to be issuing unscrupulous statements, so called Nduom Exploratory Committee report. It would be gladdening for Ghanaians to know from these elements what is Nduom’s position on Government’s intention to cut down subsidies on LPG for commercial transport users.
It is most certain this fictitious report of a selfish desire has a short life span. It is designated to deliberately unpopularise some notable aspiring candidates in their campaign. With few weeks to go for congress, the so-called report is untimely released and additionally seeks to divert the whole party as a subject to one single person; making an arrogant claim he is the most viable person.
