Why I Am Not Coming To Volta Now - Uncle Fiifi

Sat, 22 Oct 2011 Source: Dugubrame, Noah Asare

My brothers and sisters of the Volta Region, I want to grab this upportunity to humbly explain to you why I have been postponing my promise to visit you all this while. Please don't be annoyed with me. It is because of circumstances beyond my control.

The visit of this month was cancelled because the NPP left the road from Accra to Aflao halfway completed. And because of the nature of it, I could not travel on it during this raining season. I need a very large umbrella to cover my head to avoid the rain but unfortunately, Papa J has determined to hold it back from me. Apart from that, I am hearing rumours than some boys who still love the Keta Man are planning to rain stones at me if I dare come anywhere near there. If God permit and the rains seaze to rain I will come there and greet you. Also I have signed a cheque for Papa J to try and appease him. It is not a bribe, but I gave it to see, just in case he might forget the betrayal and follow me to your end. Am also scared of what might happen if I come in the heat of this "barking dog" insult war.

As for Obed, I don't know why I even brought him back. What we said in private has been thrown to the public by him. He is one of the factors this boys' tension has risen so high. But God willing I will do some of my tricks to neutralise the situation. Let's see the impact of this house cheque first.

You see, before I made those promises for East Corridor Road and the Voltarian University, I thought I could get the loan from the Chinese without the knowledge of the IMF. Because my agreement with the IMF does not allow such a big loan of that sort and without that loan I may not be able to fulfil the promise. As for the rats and grasscutters at the university, you don't worry I am in contact with their vice chancellor and I will make sure they are all dismissed in the shortest possible time.

My brothers and sisters, the NPP is giving me a lot of problems with the rate at which they developed the region when they were in power. I wish I could have done more than that, but all my plans have fallen apart. The Keta sea defence they built is a big slap in my face. I don't know what I can do in Anglogah to equate it. Also the road from Accra to Aflao was too massive, I have not done even a quarter of it. Upon all the schools I have built under trees, their HIPC projects in the region alone makes my work look insignificant. The 20% kickbacks collected by the party chairmen has left too little a money to complete the already started projects. My boys have become too greedy and this is one of the reasons Papa J no more sees eyeball to eyeball with me.

Again I have just acquired a new scissors in preparation to have cut some sods when I come there, but unfortunately there are no more suds to cut. I trying to engineer some ways to provide some artificial sods I can cut so that you will keep hoping. Koku told me all the M/DCEs say there are no more sods to cut nor prijects to commission.

My brothers and sisters, the ecomini is not good at all. The money is not just enough. All the loans, new taxes, increased taxes and the rest have vanished into the tin air. The fuel money too, I don't know where it is going. As for the cocoa and gold, the least I say I about them the better. As I speak now, we have spent a lot of money on STX and yet nothing good seem to be coming out.

Those who say I am not coming because of the failed promises are all liars. It is never true because I dont remember making any promise to you. Everything I said was political talk. If I knew you will be disappointed in me like this I won't have even promised you. Some are saying they cannot see the jobs. Others are saying their pockets are more dry than before. Others are saying they laid down their lives for the party in vain. Some are even saying my boys are greedy and the worst of it bastards. All these are not my fault. One, I am not the one who make the appointments, what they tell me is what I do. I don't know all those team B players.

I will come there but I need to wait a bit, at least when your big brother's house has started going up, I may find mercy in your eyes and it may let you forget about the token house I built whilst your brother was perching with his in-laws. I should surely have provided some shelter for him first before thinking of that token mansion.

All said and done I cannot still tell exactly when I can come there.

God bless our homeland Ghana.
