The last couple of months witnessed the debate on who founded the NDC after Dr. Obed Asamoah had tinnily transported his DFP to rejoined the NDC. In the ensuing drama, was the admission by the General Secretary of the NDC that, the 'Dog' ,referring to Mr. Jerry Rawlings, have been whipped to silence and now every individual who was scared of Mr. Rawlings can now come home. It was certainly an unintelligent statement coming from a ruling party General Secretary.
For months,I was wondering why the NDC decided to publicly humiliate their Founder Jerry Rawlings. I was equally surprised that the President, Atta Mills seems unconcerned about the salvo his appointees and spokespersons were throwing at Mr. Rawlings and his family .Truly ,inspite of the atrocities Mr. Jerry Rawlings meted out against some Ghanaians, I was sad to witness the way and manner he was brutally humiliated by his own party. Strangely, Professor Atta Mills has now deem it necessary to be calling the Founder early in the morning, when under your watch,you allow your appointees to humiliate your own Founder! The Daily Guide report, “FORMER PRESIDENT Jerry John Rawlings, in recent times, has been waking from sleep early in the morning to answer phone calls from President John Evans Atta Mills, who appears to have nothing to tell his former boss except how are you Mr President”. Interestingly, an MP of the NDC,David Tetteh Assumeng is begging the party hierarchy to reconcile Jerry Rawlings and the President, primarily to use the rejected founder for elections 2012. Really,after unleashing an unprecedented insults on Mr. Rawlings and his family,you now wants him?. Mr. Jerry Rawlings will certainly be a stooge if he joins the campaign trail.
Seriously speaking ,if President Atta Mills has no hand in the public humiliation of his founder, he would have right from the outset call upon all his appointees and communicators not to reply to any of Mr. Rawlingses criticisms of the Mills Administration. There was clearly an intelligent way the NDC could have responded to the Rawlingses criticisms without offending the Founder. But it is not surprise,I have longed hold the view and wrote in one of my articles in 2007 that Professor Mills is an unintelligent politician,excellent though as a Lecturer in the University,today the chicken have come home to roast!
My focus though is not to have sympathy for the Rawlingses ,but state clearly that something evil is permeating through our body politic and if care is not taken, Ghana could explode very soon. I'm extremely baffled to hear the tone of language used these days by the NDC appointees and their communicators. The NDC has clearly specialized in using language that only idiot should be using. They have systematically embarked on lies upon lies. The NDC is always misinterpreting statements from the leader of the NPP, Nana Akuffo Addo. It is shocking and sometimes I bewildered when a whole Chief Executive of Free Zone Board, Kojo Twum -Boafo will join the propagandists pupils. Who really made this serial caller a Chief Executive Officer of Free Zone Board? They have endlessly attack the personality of Nana Addo as if Nana Addo is not a human being. Every statement from Nana Akuffo Addo is wickedly diagnosed by the NDC to favour their diabolical scheme. No day passes without the NDC attacking the personality of Nana Akuffo Addo. The NDC has allow all their newsprints and their communicators to smear Nana Akuffo Addo.They have regrettably made Nana Akuffo Addo their 'chewing stick' .My hearts breeds when the NDC continue to use Radio Gold ,Asempa FM (Ekosi sen ,hosted by Bobie Ansah) and other pro government media to continuously attacked Nana Akuffo Addo without any justification .Ironically, never will you see any pro NPP paper painting President Atta Mills in such a manner. What wrongs have Nana Addo committed that the NDC will not give this flag bearer a break? What is really wrong with the NDC?
Sometimes I wonder if the NDC really think about the development of Ghana. Has the Presidency and the Leadership of the NDC seriously considered the repercussions of their utterances and modus aperandi on the Youth? Is Professor Atta Mills aware of that mistruths peddled by his party is destroying our moral fabric? At a time when the citizens should be brought together to strategically brainstorm on how we can move Ghana forward,time,energy and resources are spent to destroy one another. This is not the Ghana our founding fathers fought for. It is a total disgrace!
But I am not surprised in any of the posturing embarked by the NDC. For their own former first lady-Mrs Rawlings said this about the NDC, “Even the founder himself, who is supposed to be taken care of as a former president, that has not even started, how much more me, the wife. So when they (NDC) spreading the lies come, tell them to stop lying about our founder, stop lying about our party”.It is clear that the NDC has specialized in lying, it came as no surprise, when a Deputy Minister of Information can admonish personnel in the information Ministry to lie to Ghanaians. If this had happened in a civilized world ,Baba Jamal would have been sacked by the President.
I was hoping that the NDC would have learn lessons when in opposition and their militancy approach and communist propaganda will be gone. Sadly,it is getting worse. Never in the history of Ghana politics has insults and personal attack dominated our airwaves than today. Where is Ghana heading to? Let me tell Professor Atta Mills and the NDC that, no country will ever develop if that country is polarized and embedded in lies.
