Bravo, GFA Ethics Committee

Tue, 10 Jan 2012 Source: Raymond Yeboah

The GFA ethics committee has indeed proven beyond reasonable doubt that they can emulate their English Premier League counterparts after leashing out a four-match and two thousand Ghana Cedis fine on New Edubiase owner Abdul Salam Yakubu for that insulting spree he savaged on Kumasi based referee Eric Owusu Mensah that the match official is the agent of league champions Berekum Chelsea.

After thorough interrogation by the Ethics Committee, Abdul Salam Yakubu could not substantiate the allegation he made against the above mentioned referee and even went beyond manners, and wanted to vindicate himself before the committee with pretence of swearing by Qur'an and Bible.

Now the verdict is officially out that he has been banned from attending four Glo Ghana Premier League games and also pay the fine of 2,000 Ghana Cedis. To me, this is a good punishment and it will serve as deterrent to other team officials who go about insulting referees here and there.

Abdul Salam should know that when you lose a game, you should stop apportioning blames but rather investigate why the team lost. l will commend the Ethics committee for that wonderful judgement because my earlier article suggested this punishment to Abdul Salam and l am now vindicated.

The Ethics committee has executed its work professionally, left with the other committees, GFA Displinary Committee on Kotoko's attack on Chelsea supporters at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Metro TV damages and referee J.O. Lamptey intimidation, the verdict shouldn't delay, they should come out without fear or favour.

Also, Referees review committee should also come out with the verdict of referee Yahaya Musa who hid bribery money in his socks. He was caught red handed on the pitch, what is this committee waiting for? No wonder Ghana has no representative among the selected referees who are going to handle the upcoming AFCON tournament in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea.

We are in a new year so all the corrupt practices must be booted out for the progress of Ghana football, we should give every punishment where it is due. No selective justice. Thanks.
