Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng avoided seeing Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah in Italy and sources say he is unlikely to be called up for the national team anytime soon.
SuperSport.com sources in the Ghana FA say the new coach is already fed up with the repeated snubbery from the player. Kwesi Appiah has already made several calls to the Milan midfielder, which have gone without response or answers, according to FootyGhana.
Kwesi Appiah then contacted Sulley Muntari, who advised him to attend AC Milan’s training. FootyGhana reports that Appiah did as Muntari suggested and attended Milan's training session, which Boateng took part in. However, the Milan player "disappeared" from the grounds right after the session.
Both Kwesi Appiah and Sulley Muntari called Boateng several times with no response. Appiah left Italy without seeing the player.
Kevin-Prince called Muntari later, according to the report, and asked him to apologize to the coach on his behalf. His reason was that it was an emergency that caused him to meet immediately after training.
Deja vu? Kevin-Prince was blacklisted from the national team last year after he similarly ignored phone calls from then Serbian boss Goran Stevanovic. The coach was unhappy with Boateng's apparent contempt of the Black Stars.
A few months down the line, Boateng retired from the side altogether. His official letter to the Ghana FA said the decision was due to health considerations.
It was later revealed that communication has been one of Boateng's major issues since his days at Tottenham Hotspur. But whether Kwesi Appiah will have patience for the Milanista is yet to be seen.
Boateng was key for Ghana in the 2010 World Cup, but his relationship with the team has been fractured. He has 10 caps for his adopted country and would be very unlikely to get a call under Kwesi Appiah in the forseeable future.
