.... And Put Telcos In Check.

A complaint Against MTN And An Open Letter To NCA CEO

Dear sir/madam,

Not long ago I wrote to you to complain about the attitude of Vodafone to its consumers specifically about non delivery of service for which customers have paid for, poor quality service and lack of customer care. Owing to the prompt attention you gave the issue, Vodafone apologized and delivered the service I paid for. But I wonder what has happened to the cases of hundreds of if not thousands of people with similar complaints who have not taken the issue up with you.

I really cannot fathom out what's going in Ghana. Has Ghana become a lawless country where state institutions don't work and people just don't honour their contractual obligations and no sanctions applied to them? What's happening to the Telcos in Ghana? Are they taking Ghanaians for a ride because the NCA that is supposed to regulate their activities isn't up to the task? Now, I have a complaint against MTN and would like you to take up the matter with them and investigate it and get back to me as promptly as possible. I am trying to keep my cool this time but I can't promise I will be this cool if I have to follow up on this. SO WHAT'S WRONG WITH THESE TELECOM COMPANIES OPERATING IN THE COUNTRY?

What's becoming of these Telcos in Ghana koraaaaaa, Haba !!!

A few weeks ago I dug it up with Vodafone until they apologized and provided me with the service that I had paid for and now it is MTN which is trying to dupe my old lady. Adern?

Why these people behave or rather misbehave like that, Hein?

Is Ghana becoming a lawless country where chaos and gangsterism reign?

In any civilized country I wouldn't have to resort to an appeal to compel a party to an agreement to fulfill and honour its contractual obligations.

It seems to me we now have all the trappings of a failed state; weak and non functioning state institutions not doing the work for which they were set up to do and no one is holding anyone accountable.

Just having a national flag, a national anthem, and a national football team don't make a country civilized and great, do they?

Sometimes it pains me to see how deep we are sinking everyday. I feel like giving up on Ghana. The last person to leave this messed up country, please don't forget to turn off the lights.

Here is my beef with MTN;

Dear sir/madam,

MTN leased a property belonging to my mother in Parkoso, Kumasi through Scancom Ltd to construct transmission tower, and also to house a generator and transmission equipment. The lease agreement was dated 20th December 2006 and valid for 15 years. MTN agreed to pay the lease amount in 5 year installments for which the first five years was paid in January 2007. The second installment was due in January 2012 but up till now MTN has not paid up. We are now in June so it means MTN is using my property for more than half a year now without payment. Will MTN allow its subscribers to continue to use their services for 6 months without payment? I am reminding MTN to abide by its contractual obligations and pay all the rent on the said property and with interest. Failure to settle up will compel me to seek a court injunction to dismantle the tower and the transmission equipment mounted on my property.

The agreement has the following ref number; PH 17 site 1D K29 (Parkoso) 429 MTN. It is in the name of Dora Ampofowaah and Scancom, MTN representative.

I hope you will investigate this matter and get back to me in a prompt manner.
