Killing Ghanaians For Power

NPP KILLING GHANAIANS FOR POWER

True to their words, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has started their all die be die threats Nana Akufo-Addo asked his supporters to carry out to make him president at all cost.

Supporters of the party since Monday have resorted to vandalism after the electoral commissioner, Dr Afari Gyan declared President John Mahama as president elect with 50.7% of votes cast. The party leadership claims they have evidence to prove that the elections, one commended by Ghanaians and foreign observers as the most free, fair and peaceful ever conducted in the political history of the country, were rigged so they will take the issue to the law court to seek redress. The Daily Democrat shares the concerns of the NPP and fully supports their line of action, choosing to go to court with whatever evidence to support their claims.

We are, however, disturbed and troubled by the events unfolding before the court action. Pockets of skirmishes involving NPP supporters have been reported across the country. These unfortunate developments must be condemned by all peace loving Ghanaians and encourage NPP leadership to respect the will of the people and call these thugs to order. Only yesterday NPP thugs stormed the Central business District (CBD) of Accra, Makola, Kantamanto and Rawlings Park with cutlasses, clubs and other implements attacking market women and children without provocation.

Is this the direction democrats want the country to travel with our chosen system of government? Do political leaders take delight when innocent lives are lost for them to become leaders? We cannot continue to expose Ghanaians to danger simply because politicians are not satisfied with the outcome of the 2012 presidential elections. Nana Addo must show his commitment to the peace and stability he preached before the elections by advising his supporters to remain calm and wait for the decision of the court.

The Daily Democrat advises Nana Addo to demonstrate the leadership style he wanted to offer Ghanaians if he had won the elections, which he also espoused during the campaign by stopping his greedy and self seeking party officials who are inciting party supporters to cause mayhem and intimidate Ghanaians as punishment for not voting NPP.

We must remind ourselves that as Ghanaians we are not in the Stone Age for people to die for somebody to become a President.

God Bless our Home land Ghana,

Long live Ghana

Long Live NDC Long Live NPP Long Live CPP
