Rev.Martey spent many years studying in Britain and the U.S.During that time,he GRINNED AND "YES SIRED" to his peers and professors,some of whom were homosexuals(in New York). There,he never raised his voice to denounce homosexuality(he dared not- as he sought his degrees).

Back in Ghana,he found his voice.And cherry-picking quotations from the Bible - he conflated them with antiquated cultural values and norms -and has now become the leader of right wing conservative and homophobic pastors in the country.

But,according to the Emeritus Anglican Archbishop of South Africa(Desmond Tutu),these homophobic African pastors are wrong because Christianitiy is based on LOVE - not HATRED.For,if Jesus were here today, he would welcome homosexuals,instead of chastising them.

By the Moderator's logic any country (or part thereof) that supports rights for homosexuals / gays must be rejected: UK, USA, and several others. With that rejection, if we extend that argument, people in the moderator's church must reject all contacts with people from, trips to, goods from, aid from, and any interactions with such countries, their leaders, etc.

Further, the moderator's position will necessitate declarations of all such countries and/or jurisdictions and their leaders as cowards, lacking integrity, etc.

In the interest of bravery and integrity, Is the Moderator ready to put his foot where his mouth is or 'walk the talk' to its logical conclusion? I doubt it.

Lawyers (not to mention parents and family members) try to protect the RIGHTS of their clients (or children, family members, etc.) regardless of how others feel about those family members. If that were basis for rejecting them, many of the lawyers in appointed public service would not pass the test. It is easy to fall into the trap of over personalizing an issue rather than focusing on the principles, beliefs or values.

A Clergy declared yesterday declared that gay's are welcome in his church, and he would try to help them as a church representative is supposed to do. Now that interesting Nana defends their rights and this member of the clergy is harbouring them in his church. I think he should be arrested, isn't it illigal to be a practising gay in Ghana ? then it is also illigal to "hide" an offender of that law in your house, or in this case the house of god". I say let's arrest him for hiding criminals !
