Inside The Roman Father’s Pocket And The Ailing Child

.

After going through the news and reading a few articles online about the government of Ghana’s decision in sponsoring some ‘pastors’ to go and a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, it sounded ridiculous and absurdity to me personally. My ailing heart weeps for Ghana, my ‘motherland’.

Deciding on the heading for this piece reminded me of one of the old adages: ‘a child who is bound to die, no matter what you do to it, will certainly die; even if it is kept in the Roman father’s pocket, it still will die.

Is this current administration (Mahama led government) serious at all and ready for business? I don’t think they mean business… Nobody is against the fact that Mahama is a true Christian and God fearing leader, but to sponsor people to go to Jerusalem and pray or make a ‘dry fasting’, intercede for the whole country is a misplaced priority for a sovereign country like Ghana. How on earth can we spend $ 600,000.00 (American dollars) on two hundred holy beings out of the 25 million populations to meet God in Jerusalem? Does God have an Embassy or an Ambassador in present day Israel? Please, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, make use of your Council of State and seek advice from them. If God were to be found only in Jerusalem, then Ghana would be the last country to get in touch with Him.

Let’s play a game of common sense here by pondering over these questions:

1. Are these people going with diplomatic passports and or visas?

2. Is the government giving these pilgrims a chartered flight to and fro Jerusalem?

3. Is H.E John Mahama too special, holy, bossy or sinful to meet God in person, hence the delegation?

4. Who are the ‘philanthropists’ who do not know how to spend their life savings but to sponsor people to go to Jerusalem?

5. Is Woyome one of the philanthropists?

6. How much is the ‘connection man’ charging for every visa?

7. What miracle(s) do we anticipate after this pilgrimage?

8. Why not Atwea mountains or the tallest mountain, Afadjato (per my geography teacher)?

9. What are these pastors going to meet God in Jerusalem for? Is it, mineral resource which we have in abundance (gold, diamond, bauxite, silver, aluminum, etc.) or is it electricity, water, crude oil, dollars or common sense (wisdom)?

Whoever these philanthropists are, I suggest you invest this $600,000.00 in educating the brilliant but needy children in the society and God will reward you in three-folds.

Ghana does not need God to bless us with any material or natural resources, but rather what we need this period is Common Sense. This is the only resource I will be convinced if millions of dollars is or are spent on in this holy journey. My leaders are lacking this scarce resource in our part of the world.

I pray to God to grant my leaders Solomonic wisdom in multiples.

To the pilgrims, enjoy your journey; chill but don’t freeze.

God bless Ghana.
