What statistic did you use to say teachers are last on the bottom? Teachers are the least performers in this country.Failure and poor performance at both BECE and WASSCE is just at the ascendency.Teachers are just a nuisance, everybody can teach. If they want they sholud leave for others to take over.

You don't know? Then you are ignorant. When students do not have lights to study at night and have to wake up too early to look for water, do you blame teachers? I am a teacher so don't make me angry this Friday.

Have you considered that for many years now students from poor homes have no lights to study at night and finish their homework. How long do they spend looking for water? Please, today is Friday. Leave me alone.

Well done for this revealing article. It is unfortunate after getting indepence in 1957, we have not fully identified one of the important institutions which have to be given the most attention order for us to progress as a Nation.
Countries like South Africa, UK, Canada, USA and many more provide a lot of imput and motivation for teachers and that results in good output in terms of their pupils/students output.
The attitude of people to teachers in these countries is warm with respect. We are a developing country but all the same we have to start putting things in the right order to avoid moving in circles and finger pointing which will not help with progress.
If teachers are going on strike it is a wake up call which have to be investigated and issues addressed. I was disappointed to read that a lawyer could call for teachers to quit their job if their needs are not addressed. Ghanaian teachers are very hardworking sometimes having as many as 40 or more pupils in a class and with all these difficulties are able to produce very good students who excel where ever they go.
It is time stakeholders see the importance of teachers in our total development as a nation and provide the necessary support and motivation so that they could be on top of their abilities. We need a government which can take a bold step in this direction which will take us forward as a nation and also create a good image of teachers in Ghana
