Is it true that the Ghanian Association of cartographers want the soon to be implemented address system to be simplify as follows:

1. Street name and number, followed by apt number (if any for mail and parcels delivery purposes)

2. Neighborhood,

3. unique area code number, i.e 1,000 - 10,000 for the ten regions in the country. The bigger the town, the more zeros in their area code. As an example, 1,000 for Kumasi area code or 10,000 for Tamale or Accra.

4. Last, the region, and so here is an example of would be soon Ghanian address:

If we are adopting the numerical zip codes, then we must do it correctly:

I suggest that each location must have EXACTLY 5 digits as in USA and Germany.

There shall be no delimiters (comma/slashes etc) within the code.

More over, because the codes uniquely define a location, regional names are not imporant. So a valid address may be:

What we need is direct debiting for all payments: monthly salaries, utility bills and any other bill. That way, handling cash will reduce greatly.

But now, Mahama has realised that those who live in glass houses do not throw stones.
ICT has been embraced all over the developed world to monitor and manage corruption, to a very degree of success. With the government's political will, the introduction of e-government systems - e-procurement, e-filing of tax returns, e-everything will reduce significantly over 90% of the unchecked and collaborative corruption in Ghana.
It is the case of the government understanding and having the intent to implement ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEMS. The issue is they are afraid that they will be caught out from perpetuating their own fraudulent deals. That is where we are now.

Any attempt to use electronics or whatever to turn things around, will be met with stiff opposition. WHY? People are knee deep into corruption and has become a way of life. Those in high places would put whatever obstacles they could deploy to stifle such attempt to tie their hands behind them.

All rivers meanders and finally, enters the sea. If those whose duty is to stop corruption do not benefit from it, why turning a blind eye to such glaring illegalities?

The president said that Ghana loses over a hundred million dollars from Tema port every month. So, what is he doing to stop it? They all gain from such corrupt practices else, they would make sure to restructure they way monies are handled.

I weep for Ghana. Our leaders are stupid but they don't even know they are. All the big companies are foreign owned. And it is our leaders who take bribe and mortgage Ghana.

They are aware but as someone put it, all rivers empties into the sea, whatever monies exiting the system ends up into the pockets of our leaders else, they will definitely find solution to it. Trust me.

Recently, Mahama said that Ghana loses over one hundred million dollars at the Tema port every month. The question is if he is aware, why is he doing to stop such huge leakage? Initially, he will act as if but in the final analysis, he will look elsewhere and let the rot continue as he is benefiting from it.

Ghana losing one hundred million dollars a month is a huge loss but you see, they come and go while the system persist.
