Africa for years suffered development with regard to quality education among the youth. Many scholars who emanated from the continent could vividly attest to the fact that their success pivoted from excessive readings. Reading for its natural sense and purpose, needs to transform the young men and women for future transformation, yet a few Africans make reading their first priority. Education for its meaningful implementation must base its core values on constant reading and writing. There are series of good and relevant writers from Africa overtime but the reading habit seems to fade overnight.
Our young ones in Africa deserve better so as our leaders need to separate politics from education vehemently in all instances. Our politicians normally use education to play political game which had been a canker suddenly. Relevant books are however essential for our children to read for the purpose of better life transformation. I read a few African writers and could recommend relevant books for our young ones for informational and entertainment; A COWRIE of HOPE by (Binwell Sinyangwe ), A WOMAN IN HER PRIME (Asare Konadu ), THE PRICE OF ADVENTURE AND PASSION (Koffi Amlado) and THE SLAVE GIRL (Buchi Emecheta). These books teach the real core values of African culture and norm. Our policy makers are however entreated to be a bit conspectus and selective in the implementation of their policy with regard good moral values for the future generation.
The policy makers require a critical relook at the main objectives of the education in Africa as a continent, and the need to reinforce those objectives to meet the individual needs in every country. There is a clear evident that criminal activities are predominant in Africa than any other part of this planet, which is always alarming in the international discussion platform. Perhaps, the chief cause of those mischievous activities of the youth is based on the lack of proper education objective outlives; which might be streamlined to boost a definite career meant to cater for an individual African’s need.
The technical skills are the main tools for development in every nation, but African curriculum seems to neglect those aspects of education and focus on grammar and arithmetic which rather appear to be the most challenging discipline for the youth in Africa to study. Africa needs technical transformation at all instances, so the policy makers must make it their first priority. Agriculture could be the main tool for development in Africa on grounds that we have our fertilized land well fertilized at all corners in African which could enhance the production of crops to feed other people in the rest of the continent on this planet.
War over the years destroyed many countries in Africa; La Cote d’Ivoire, Soudan, Congo and some other prominent nations like Libya, Israel and Egypt are the most disturbing distracting places of peace and tranquility on this continent of Africa. Conflict can never promote development in any nation like that of Ghana who in all the time demonstration peace and unity in West Africa. We, the Africans must try as much as can in order to exhibit the spirit of peace in our political duties discharging at all cost.
