This is wonderful article. National service has been of great help to graduate but the question is after National service where else?
A lot of graduate after their inability to find job and due to their family disrespecting them, they end up committing suicide.
I read so many articles where government complains and warn the youth against INTERNET FRAUD.
I know most of the unemployed graduate who studied psychology is now hot cake in the cyber fraud business. Yes I know that as a fact. All the fraudsters need is to find only one graduate with Psychology background.
The fraudsters sends their activities and dealing with their prey whom they most a time call their client.
The Psychologist studies the white “client” and decides the right process or “the format “which the white would easy fall for it. The Psychologist knows very well how to play with the emotion of the white so that, he or she will fall for the scam if even the white is vigilante.
As soon as the fraudster succeeds in scamming the white, he pays the PSYCOLOGIST his commission. Therefore fraudsters nowadays don’t use ‘JUJU’ anymore but use the expertise of unemployed PSYCOLOGY GRADUATES.
This country faces great danger by producing unemployed graduate and I won’t be shock if by two years to come Arm robbers become sophisticated for the police to handle if some of these graduate decide to join.

You talk as if the private schools have just opened their mouths wide waiting to swallow these guys. What the article is saying is the reality on the ground. We all went through before we landed our first job.

Someone from Half Assini got 3 or 4 As and just one B. He wanted to do medicine, and he could not get in. Guess what was his next choice? That is what you need to think. That is the system in Ghana.
So it is not easy. Don't blame people without considering all factors that caused their problem. Or are you saying that because there are no jobs for Architects, BTs or psychologists, everybody should go and do nursing as it is happening among Ghanaians in the States?

After National Service, it took me a year before getting my first job so I had all the experiences shared in the article. I travelled the length and breath of Ghana in search of a job.

It is truly horrible when it comes to gainful employment in our country. But some graduates choose to work in say a bank bar none. And that attitude also compounds the issue. Self employment is good but given the colour of the soil in Ghana added to the colour and mind set of us, we better not mention that at least for now.
