Accra Hearts of Oak’s Thomas Abbey deserved to have won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in last Sundays titanic premier league clash between Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium, www.sportsmafiagh.net can argue.

The technical team instead awarded the prize to Kotoko’s hard working Yahya Mohammed who laid a world class pass for Seidu Bansey to power home the decisive goal that separated the two sides.

www.sportsmafiagh.net’s assessment of the game revealed that Coach David Duncan is trying to drag Hearts out of the dark ages. (From long ball merchants to pass masters) and in other to realize his dream he gave Abbey a free role to link up passes from the defence to midfield and then to attack and the young middie executed his task perfectly.

Yahya Mohammed on the other hand was the target man around which the Kotoko attacking force operated but the experience attacker failed on a couple of times to hold onto the ball for his colleagues to join him upfront but decided to shooting off targets.

The game was undoubtedly the best the two sides has sold to their supporters in recent times. Both sides exhibited some eye-catching stuff. Coach Didi Dramani opened his ‘How to beat Arsenal’ note book in the second half and underlined the topic, ’Park the bus’ but as intelligent as Abbey was he managed to pin holes deep in the heart of the Kotoko defence for his colleague’s to finishing the business but goalie Isaac Amoako stood between his side and a goal.

Thomas Abbey was not only intelligent on the ball but was also discipline on the day likewise Yahya Mohammed. Both coaches proved a point on the day with Didi Dramani proving his skeptics wrong.

Kudos to both sides for producing such a pink sheet performance and we hope it’s not going to be a-nine-day wonder but as much as Yahya Mohammed used his experience on the day, so did Thomas Abbey exhibited enormous class and should have been given the prize.
