Dare to Provide the prove, Mr. Kofi Jumah or else just

…………………………………………… your pinehole.

A careful observation of the media landscape in Ghana has informed this piece. Hitherto, I vowed not to comment on issues in the media because of the seemingly low Journalistic standards that a lot (NOT ALL) of the print media seem to have sunk to and relish in.

As a nation, we have tolerated so much from our politicians to a point where they take us for granted with the seemingly tacit approval of the watchdogs of the populace, the fourth realm…..

In recent times, there has been a lot of slanderous comments, character assassinations, and outright but purposeful untruths spewed out by “responsible” people in society, some of who are supposed to be career politicians, people who have held positions of authority in our dear country, and others whom you would think have class and panache in our society. It makes one wonder the moral depths to which our society has sunk. Sadly, these wild allegations are thrown into the public domain without a substantiation of same or the media houses not holding propagators of such allegations to prove their assertions as preposterous as they sound.

A recent Joyfmonline.com news item purportedly emanating from Mr. Kofi Jumah, an ex-minister in the Pres. Kuffour era, has me SMH( as the youth of today will say). (SMH means ‘shaking my head’ for those who are not keeping up with the language of the “modern” youth.)

Mr. Jumah purportedly alluded to the fact that he has a recording of Pres. Mahama and Justice Atuguba JSC, secretly recorded before the judgment of the epoch Supreme Court judgment of August 29, 2013 on the election petition hearing. According to the reportage, the contents of the tape is so damaging that Ghanaians will be shocked to know the level our Judiciary system has sunk to. I would have expected the said media house that granted him the interview to ensure that he plays said tape or stop his seemingly wild vituperations.

As bad as the allegation is, I believe Mr. Jumah has to produce the said tape and play it in the same medium which he made those sickening allegations which in my opinion impugns the integrity of one of our finest Justices and generally undermine the very foundations of our Judicial system. In the absence of that, he needs to render an unqualified apology to the President and indeed the good people of Ghana and refrain from further loose talk which does not inure to anybody’s benefit.

Our older statesmen must be held to a very high standard of behavior so the youth can emulate for the benefit of the grand “Ghana project”
