R.I.P Nelson Mandela is not enough

Sun, 8 Dec 2013 Source: Mensah, Emmanuel

I write in response to the sweet comments all over our social networks reminding us

of how good a hero Nelson Mandela was. The situation in itself transcends beyond

social networks as people have actually shed tears for the late hero.

As sad as his death is, we should see his demise as a reminder to continue working

towards achieving his dreams, parts of which included building a racist free world

and propagating the African Culture, which in my view still remains fictional! Of

course, his life is worth celebrating but what good shall it bring us when all we do

is say R.I.P Madiba – how then can he rest in peace?

In my view, a more appropriate way to honor him will be to start looking within

ourselves to bring out the next Madiba, let's look at that selfish politics in

Africa, feed the hungry children, give girls education, and above all, save lives of

innocent people all over the world who need just $1 to stay alive. This, I believe,

is what Madiba would whish we did - not waiting for a heaven we cannot see but,

creating that heaven here on earth. So let's bring his dream, which I doubt would be

achieved any time soon, to reality then, and only then, will that Noble Price,

Nelson Madiba Mandela rest in peace.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his

background or his religion. People learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate,

then they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart

than its opposite” – Nelson Mandela.
