Afrifa / Busia Abolished Free Education In Ghana

The Leaders of the National Liberation Movement (NLM) popularly called ‘’Mate meho’’ in the local Akan language which later became known as the United Party (UP) came together and used violence, murder, tribalism and separatism in their political fight with the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his CPP government.

The leadership of the United Party which the NPP represent today all came from families which had enjoyed a very good standard of LIVING even in Colonial times when Ghana was ruled by Britain.

They hoped that when Colonial rule ended, they would step into the positions occupied by the British, and even enjoy GREATER PRIVILEGES.

They were rather shocked to realize that Dr. Nkrumah and Progressive members of the great CPP aimed to make basic change in Ghana to give everyone a FAIR CHANCE because Ghana’s Resources belong to the people. They would plan how they could be developed and used for THE BENEFIT OF EVERYONE. Each Ghanaian would do the work for which he was BEST SUITED. Those who could not work, the old and the sick, would be taken care of. On the other hand, members of the United Party led by Dr. Busia which the NPP represent today carried on a vicious press campaign against Dr. Nkrumah and all leading members of the CPP.

They claimed that MONEY WAS BEING WASTED, and the people were no longer free to do as they pleased. They stirred up troubles by reporting all kinds of rumors, and scandals in an attempts to make Ghanaians believe that the CPP government were RUINING THE COUNTRY just as the NPP is doing to President Mahama’s government today 2014.

This writer was an active grass root supporter of the great CPP in my capacity as a former Young Pioneer Cadre, so I fear no foe or challenger from the ranks of the violent prone NPP. When I take my pen, I send them to the cleansers. Dr. Nkrumah created a Socialist Society in which the ordinary people would govern and NO ONE would occupy a PRIVILEGED POSITION. In re-action members of the United Party / NPP re-acted by saying that Nkrumah must not be allowed to succeed in implementing Socialism in Ghana which they (UP) members feared more than anything because they wanted Ghana to be divided into Separate Regions with each region managing its own affairs in other words, they wanted Federalism on a narrow tribal front - that is the NPP for you..

It was not sensible to split up a government of a country as small as Ghana. Dr, Busia and his UP members did all they could to cause trouble burn markets, kill innocent people, threw bombs and grenades so that the British would think the Ghanaian people were not ready for Independence.

Dr. Busia even flew to London heading a delegation to try to stop the British government from granting Independence to Ghana in 1957.

Fortunately for Ghana, Dr. Busia, the violent tribal bigot did not succeed in stopping the British.

In every part of Ghana, new schools and training colleges were built, and the University of Ghana was opened at Legon. Soon two other Universities were opened in Kumasi and Cape Coast. Under the CPP government led by Dr. Nkrumah, every child in Ghana could go to school and all had chance to go to Training Colleges or to any University. Their parents did not have to PAY ANY SCHOOL FEES. All education from Primary school to University level WAS MADE FREE from 1957 to 1966when the re-actionary forces supported by Dr. Busia and led by Major Afrifa overthrew Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in a bloody coup de’tat on 24th February 1966, between 1957 to 1966 so many things were done by Dr. Nkrumah to improve the health and happiness of the people that Ghana was widely recognized as having one of the HIGHEST STANDARDS OF LIVING IN AFRICA, immediately after the soldiers led by Afrifa succeeded in over throwing the CPP government in 1966, Dr. Busia left Oxford university for Accra on 19th March 1966, one month after that bloody coup de’tat on 24th February 1966. Col. Kotoka and Major Afrifa were paid 13 million dollars by the C.I.A to stage the 1966 coup.

Dr. Busia was appointed by the NLC Military Junta as the Chairman of the Centre for Civic Education (CCE) on 7th June 1967 with the task to re – educate or ‘’De – Nkrumahnize’’ Ghanians and implement a ‘’ Busia’s Democracy. With the demise of Dr. Nkrumah and the CPP in 1966, the ONLY PROMINENT POLITICIAN whose political orientation was consistent with that of the NLC was Dr. Busia.

Members of the NLC military junta were Conservatives, Dr. Busia was a Conservative, the clergy in Ghana are also Conservatives and that is the main reason why most Clergy men especially the Methodist Bishops always feel very INSECURE whenever the NDC is in power. Dr. Busia later became the Chairman of the NLC Political Committee when Edward Akuffo Addo was appointed Chief Justice of Ghana. He (Busia) and Major Afrifa put their heads together and completely ABOLISHED FREE EDUCATION IN GHANA even before Busia became the second Prime Minister of Ghana in the second Republic in 1969.

Forty six years later 1966 to 2012 Nana Akuffo Addo whose father was a Ceremonial President in 1969 and took part in Abolishing FREE EDUCATION in order to punish Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was now deceiving Ghanaians that he will give them free education from the Primary School to Senior High School, how honest was he?

The people of Ghana now know without a doubt that the Danquah / Busia tradition which the NPP represent today 2014 has NOTHING TO OFFER BUT DISASTER and that was why they refused to vote for Nana Akuffo Addo who promised ‘’Free SHS Education’’ in Ghana during the 2012 elections.

As far back as 1949, Dr. Nkrumah and his CPP government WARNED THAT thrusting power into the Elitish HANDS of the Danquah / Busiast could spell Doom for Ghana. What happened when they thrust power to them in 1969 under Busia and also in 2001- 2008 under Kufour? I leave the answer to my dear readers . Is anybody listening? I shall return when the need arise. I am done ‘’Jaanbie Iwaii – Aluta Continua!
