The NDC and NPP are both Hypocrites

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 Source: Owusu, Nana Ofori

In the evolution of both Parties, the two at one point advocated for election MMDCE's in their manifestos. They lie to the good citizens of Ghana only to gain power and do an 'about face' on us. They turn their backs to Ghanaians when we vote them into power.

We'll meaning Ghanaians have advocated for a change in the unbridled power of the Executive. More power should be given to the people to ensure that there is a good separation of powers between the Executive, Parliamentary and the Judiciary.

Politicians in the NDC and NPP do not seem to concur with the millions of citizens who are craving for such a change. President Rawlings, Kuffuor, Mills, and Mahama in this fourth republic have all missed the boat. Ghana is still worse off.

NPP Presidential candidate, Nana Akuffo Addo has made it known to Ghanaians that he is not in favor of the Separation if Attorney General from the Minister for Justice. He made this known as far back as 2008 presidential debates. He has also never lent his voice in support of the campaign to Elect MMDCEs.

President Mahama has advocated for a proposal that allows him to nominate 5, trimmed down to 3 by the Public Service commission and the people vote on those people. I am sure they all take Ghanaians to be idiots. Where lies the fairness in competition where citizens choose their own leaders.

> To NDC and NPP, why do you seek the approval of Ghanaian citizens to vote for you, yet, you cage them in voting for the person in their community who can develop much more quickly. It is the MMDCEs who hold the purse to push development at the local level. This person should be someone that the people have confidence and VOTE him into power. This person should be accountable to the people, not someone in Accra who appointed him/her.

> I recently read in the paper that Kennedy Agyapong of the NPP is saying that the law that allows the President to choose the Commissioner for the Electoral Commission should be scrapped. Really? When it suits you then it is ok. Why do I not hear NPP and NDC as a body joining the crusade to reduce the tremendous power of the executive by advocating for Election of MMDCEs, Separation of Attorney General from Minister of Justice. Helping to put the power back in the hands of the people.

> Anti corruption demonstrations that the NPP have participated in is hypocritical. How would you root out corruption if you do not change the very structures that breed corruption. The Presidential candidate of the NPP does not agree with the recommendations to separation the Attorney General from the Minister of Justice.

>

> This to me says that the NDC and NPP are both the same people. They want change of faces not change that Ghanaians can feel in their pockets. There's a game of table tennis going on... Back hand from NDC and forward smash by the NPP. This is a travesty of Justice.

> Ghanaians we need an alternative to these two parties because they are both the same. President Mahama and Nana Akuffo Addo both believe in the same thing. Maintaining power at the Executive to choke the life out of Ghanaians.
