Many a discerning Ghanaian who has had the opportunity to listen to the recorded libationary words recently used by one of Tepahene's linguists has begun to doubt not only the linguist's integrity but also, his mental state. Some think he is either walking with his stomach, or he is about to become mental if he is already not, or he is seeking favours in the eyes of President Mahama and the NDC government.
I had tuned in to Accra Peace FM radio station during a programme hosted by Nana Yaw Kesse on Wednesday 24 June 2015 night when the tape that captured what I deem as spewing of inanities by the linguist was played.
The linguist, clearly an enemy of the betterment of Ghana, a classical selfish individual aspiring to see Ghanaians perpetually dwell in pitch-dark socio-economic abyss, cursed all right-thinking Ghanaians in the course of his libation. He said amid other things, "Former President Rawlings was given two terms to rule Ghana, former President Kufuor was given two terms; therefore, it is the turn of President Mahama with his NDC government to be given two terms. Anyone who is against President Mahama being voted to a second term in office as President of Ghana must be blown away to their death when the wind of departed "Nananom" blows"
Immediately after the libation, I could hear someone request the audience to give the linguist a big round of applause. According to whoever the person was, the linguist had spoken very well. Truly as requested, one could hear the audience clap their hands.
Now, I have decided to nail his lie with an enigma or a narration of a short, but intelligent, story. In a particular family, all the male members who travel outside the locality to seek greener pastures abroad or elsewhere in the country are expected to put up a two-storey building. It is not a MUST but they have all cultivated that habit so it has become near-obligatory.
Assuming you, the reader, belong to the family, how would you react in the following circumstance? You have travelled abroad to say, fleece the Whiteman a little because their pastures are seen greener than yours. They have well tended their pastures. While abroad, you send regular remittances home, to say, your brother or uncle, to build you a two-storey house. When you go home three years later to find that he has almost completed the ground floor of the house to what Ghanaians popularly refer to as the "lintel level", BUT the house built in a MARSHY ground without reinforced foundation works, what will you do?
1. Will you continue with the project to finish because you are obligatorily required to build a two-storey house, being a male member of the said family?
2. You will discontinue with the project, and then acquire another building plot elsewhere to start all afresh. Why will you decide to start elsewhere?
Before proceeding any further, let me pause to ask the linguist in question himself. Nana Kyeame (linguist), assuming you are a cocoa farmer with your farm at Tepa-Pobriso, and have been sending part of your yearly earnings from your farm produce (cocoa) for the past three years to one of your colleague-linguists in Kumasi to build you a two-storey house but come to find it in the state as just stated above, what will you do? Will you be stupid enough to continue with it knowing it will not stand the tempest when it does come? The foundation of the house is not only weak but also, it is built on a marshy ground.
I will personally not continue with the building to completion only to have it collapse a few years later or soon afterwards, were I asked for my opinion on the issue. I will start a new building altogether in a better, solid and non-marshy ground where the building shall be able to resist or withstand the tempest when it does come. This is common sense and biblical. A quote from Luke 6:47-49 may facilitate the explanation or the complexity of the already enigmatic story purported to castigate the seemingly unwise, callous or greedy linguist who listens to the dictates of his stomach or heart, but not his head.
Luke 6: 47-49: - 47"Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: 48he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49"But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."
From the little said, I would like all Ghanaians to be informed that Ghana in her present socio-economic situation is a failed State. Whoever wills may believe me or not; however, it is a fact. Whoever wants can choose to behave like the ostrich that buries its head in the sand pretending nothing is happening when actually, his very backyard or surroundings are in a full-blown conflagration.
The linguist by his clearly preposterous prayers to the gods, departed souls and the river spirits is behaving worse than the proverbial ostrich.
Now, let the linguist and his like-minded dishonest chiefs and others note that President Mahama is the house being built in the marshy, non-solid ground and without iron-reinforced foundation. The family male members abroad or away from the locality remitting money home for the construction of the two-storey house are the entirety of Ghanaians of voting age. The two-storey house is the assumed obligatory two terms in office offered to Ghanaian Presidents. The family in question where each of their male members are expected to put up a two-storey building as explained above is the entire Ghanaian population. The particular family male member now come to find his intended two-storey house being built in a marshy ground without foundation reinforcement is any Ghanaian individual of not only voting age but also, registered to vote and shall be voting in any future national elections.
I will not go any further, but to leave it to you as individuals to decide, if given the opportunity, you will foolishly vote to maintain President Mahama upon all the "dumsor" that is collapsing Ghanaian industries and businesses, amid the blatant corruption, incompetence, cluelessness, practice of selective justice and underrating of Ghanaians' intelligence by President Mahama and his NDC party and government. Are you going to do this, same reasoning like the linguist that I see as not only dishonest but also, completely walking with his stomach, to vote for President Mahama because Ghanaians have it as their culture to keep their once elected Presidents and ruling governments in power for two consecutive terms at a time regardless of how better or worse they govern the nation?
Be truthful with yourself and the God or god that you worship to answer the few questions posed, putting yourself in the stead of the various characters and circumstances cited.
The Son of Kumawu/Asiampa, Rockson Adofo, shall in the coming months be mounting political campaign platforms in Ghana, sending out powerfully truthful messages to persuade Ghanaians to vote for a change in government for the better. When that day comes, many are those that may have the opportunity to drink freely from his overflowing fountain of God-endowed wisdom.
