You and your other NPP Youths waited far too long to intervene. The cattle are already out of the ban. When many of us began calling folks' attention to certain behaviors among the NPP leadership that we knew would culminate in this mess, we were countered with insults from obsessed supporters of those leaders identified to be exhibiting those flaws.
No human being is perfect, no matter how popular we see him or her. And if in a certain role such a person seems to be leading a group the wrong way, truthful acknowledgment of that poor leadership ought to be made by all and genuine efforts made to correct the situation.
From the very beginning when the machete- and gun-wielding mob attacked Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong for having fired the Treasurer, the signs were visible that much had gone awry and the NPP entire NEC leadership and all Youth organizations should have demanded a fast internal probe to straighten up matters.
Instead, a continued harassment of Afoko and Agyapong became the constant in the operations of the NPP. The Youths didn't act in anyway that would bring a balanced resolution to the growing crisis.
The various polarities rather got more and more entrenched.
I partly blame our culture of assuming leaders can do no wrong, and popular ones are infallible for that long delay. But more so, I blame the recalcitrance and arrogance of the Akufo-Addo's camp for much of the crisis. It became unnecessarily paranoid of Afoko and Agyapong and kept thwarting their efforts in many ways; I even strongly believe some of their later problems were orchestrated by the same minions of Akufo-Addo's to generate the Public's angst against the two. That faction blatantly declared to have the two ousted. And the two had to fight back to preserve their positions and offices to which they had been properly elected. That resistance from the two was easily misconstrued or conveniently mis-characterized by
Akufo-Addo's camp as arrogance from the two. Then, the same camp came up with its dubious claim that the two had some 'Agenda 2020' to derail Akufo-Addo's chance to win the Presidency and make room for their preferred leader, Alan. What proof did your Youths ask from that camp to substantiate that accusation? None.
Then came the most unfortunate murder of Adams. Immediately, in response, the same Akufo-Addo camp, led by Kennedy Agyepong, blamed the murder on President Kufuor, Mpiani, Alan, and others. Where was Akufo-Addo's leadership to admonish Agyepong to recant that claim and apologize to those Party leaders, and convene an emergency meeting to close ranks for calm and deference to the Justice system in that case?
So, let's call a spade a spade. You all sat there quietly condoning the escalation of the rift. So, now your appeal may be just too late. Whatever genuine efforts at reconciliation you envisage ought to be led by the NEC. Sadly, that subcommittee has shown to take unreasonable sides. Who else in the Party or other sub-groups in NPP could be trusted with any such genuine efforts? Historically, one would expect that the Party would reach out to the Otumfuor to intercede for internal Peace. But, even he, has been variously deeply insulted by the same Akufo-Addo faction at many instances, which has been wrongly accusing the King of being an NDC and Mahama stooge.
Our Constitution requires all Chiefs to abstain from active Politics and therefore the Otumfuor's warm reception for the President could have been seen as playing a neutral role in our Politics. In that case, if he had been approached by the NPP to mediate in its internal wranglings, he could have done so safely without incurring any perception of bias for the Party.
Long Live Ghana!!!

This may be a bit too late. The party is now unattractive to many floating voters. I am one such, used to be sympathetic to the NPP, but no more. I look at the party which used to boast leaders such as da Rocha, Agyenim Boateng, Ala Adjetey and wonder why leaders such as these are not at the forefront of the party. They may not have won elections, but they made the party attractive. Logical reasoning and consensus building are all but dead in the party. Lying and character assassination are promoted and pursued at all levels. People generate a false story and this is picked up and spread by party communicators and members. No wonder it is now spreading to all levels of leadership. "Afoko has been bought by the NDC", "Kwabena Agyapong has been given a V8 by the NDC". These lies I have heard from my own NPP friends and relatives. You ask for evidence and all they tell me is that it is true. Militants have taken over and many party decisions and positions are not subject to rigourous debate. Gabby says and party communicators take it up. Is Gabby the chief strategist? Then he is really not helping the party. Crazy guys like Kennedy Agyepong are promoted and openly celebrated within the party. No one dare bring him to order even when he is costing the party votes by his utterances. And one vote can make a difference. The party does not tolerate alternate views and many once prominent party leaders are quiet. And with all the confusion and internal fighting, the NPP expects to get elected, because "NDC is not doing well." Sorry, the NPP must put their house in order first. But it seems even if it happens, this may be too late for the next election.

GK Berko all you said is true and to add to your observation, the beginning of it all was during the 2012 campaign and after the 2012 elections when the Sir Johns, Ken Agyapongs,Sammy Awukus,Hopesons,Gabys et al were insulting personalities and institutions left right and center, Nana Addo and his faction and the NPP at large thought those behaviors were to their advantage and benefit. The NPP did not contemplate that condoning such behaviors they were planting mischief, disorder, indiscipline, disunity, mutiny, violence etc that is rocking the party today. Now as observed by many it may be too late before 2016.
