Who else will explain the military way of doing things than his majesty the authority Nana himself. Military training is not meant for the weakling nor the nice people. I can not but agree more with Nana illustrations. Heed it if you are making your mind to join the army. I will add that in the army there is nothing like democracy nor abuse of human rights. DISCIPLINE OR NO ARMY, PERIOD. Nana I salute you.

Nana,we all agree with you.Military training is not meant for over-pampered daddy's children.Neither is it meant for those who get in through the back doors-----the so-called 'protocol recruits'.Military training is for the tough and disciplined-minded. It is for those who are willing to subject themselves to being 'properly brought up'to become useful persons to their country and to themselves. It is either you "ship in or ship out".No dada ba business here.We all went through it without complaining and we have become better persons for that.Thank you Nana Akwah.

Nana, I wonder what you think about there being available to civilians a voluntary military training program in Ghana that trains guys (or gals) without necessarily having them enlist as regular soldiers? I am thinking of for instance the "Territorial SAS" regiment in the UK, which takes civilians and trains them under SAS training conditions but which (I think) doesn't require successful recruits to become regular enlisted soldiers?
I ask this because of what you wrote in your article. Ghana as a country does not have mandatory military training for young men, so those who get basic military training are those recruits who aspire to make it to the army.
It would be great to have a third option, which is for there to be 'voluntary military training' for those guys (and gals) who want to benefit from military training but who may not want to enlist as regular soldiers. This will provide a credible option for civilians, so that they don't have to turn up to those fake military (gym) training programs.
Yet it might be too expensive for us as a nation to have that provision, is my guess.

Well written old boy. Some of still hold the view that the old system of recruitment is the best, and must be brought back. joining the military shouldnt be what it is now. There are too many unqualified people now being enlisted. How often have we not come to the rescue of soldiers from civilian? Unless your CSM wasnt aware that you were beaten in town by civilians. You would suffer for it. That system of so called protocol, with the majority being ·pet dogs· should be discouraged. If a recruit can not undergo training at a place like Shai Hills, and not Tamale Nyohni, then there is something seriously wrong with the recruitment. To the extend of demonstrations? We need to sit down again.

Guys, there's no better life shaping Field like the millitary. I now live in a Land far away from Ghana. But the discipline and Moral is still high.
Thanks very much Nana for this psychological introduction into what one should expect at a Training Camp.

An example is the land guards, they were just given some bacics in the military, you see them brutalising people everywhere, and when the military or police step in, a telephone call from the office of the presidency or whatever would release them, why, the looted and shared land from the people. By brother we have a long way to go,
