Why get pregnant

Fri, 3 Jun 2016 Source: Maame Yaa Emefa Coffie

Getting pregnant at a wrong time in life can lead to a great form of anxiety, a minimum percentage might lead to death.

Some ladies have lost it all in life, made the wrong decisions, wrong choices, resorted to just one plan because there was no other alternative after they got pregnant.

Some men are also forced to marry ladies they don’t love but got pregnant for them. Some school drop outs, work loss and others are results of a lady getting pregnant, end product will be distress in the relationship (check out causative agents of distress in relationship).

Some students of the Mampong Nurses and Midwifery Training College (MNMTC) nearly lost their educational life until the cut in of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), this was a product of their pregnancy.

The big question is, why get pregnant when we are in an era you get pregnant only when you decide to? A lot of measures have been put in place to halt this, the use of condoms, contraceptives, an implant, intra-uterine device and following the safe and unsafe period calendar.

Preaching abstinence, which is the best pregnancy preventive measure is gradually dying as adherents cannot abide by this rule, so adherers, why don’t you protect yourselves during sexual intercourse.

Michael Tagoe, a counselor at the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) in Cape coast in an interview with topfmonline.com said preventing pregnancy is now made easy both for a lifetime or a short term.

Lifetime methods which are irreversible includes vasectomy, a surgical procedure which aim at sterilizing the male and fallopian tube lining by the female, this is mostly practiced by persons who wants to put an end to birthing after probably having a number of children they want.

Short term is the use of reversible methods to control pregnancy. This which includes the use of condoms, contraceptive pills, IUDs and others are mostly practiced by persons who would want to have children after a short period (break).

Mr. Tagoe speaking on natural methods said the withdrawal method is also good but has a very high level of inefficiency.

Ladies prevent pregnancy if it is unwanted because it is possible.
