The hypocrisy in Ghana has assumed inebriating levels. It's disheartening to know that most of the atrocities that went on under Jerry John Rawlings are still in practise today under John Mahama.
I would wish that we have an African version of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to arrest perpetrators of such crimes. Alas, lament with me my fellow Africans! If a Mayor can bribe the Association of African Mayors to vote them as the best in Africa when there are more deserving and incorruptible others who are better placed for reasons of laudable competence, then we are in deep crisis.
But wait! We can rise up to the moment and declare these fake leaders waste. November 7 is barely 115 days away, and all we have to do is prepare our thumbs for showdown.
The air of change is blowing! If you fight against it, you will end up torn and tattered, battered and shattered! Jerry John Rawlings in his heydays of madness led two coup d'états with a camouflaged intention to rid the nation off corruption. Ignorant Ghanaians sang his mantra, "Let The Blood Flow!"
General I.K.Acheampong, Genral Akufo, General Afrifa and others were murdered. Others were massacred extra-judicially for their inability to pay loans, or possessing more than 50,000 Cedis (fifty thousand cedis). Those were the days that people went to the rubbish dumps to take a shit next to heaps of cash that people threw away. They did not dare take some back home for fear of summary execution.
Believe it or not, for the first time in the history of humanity, money, then, became as worthless as toilet paper. Those were the days that people actually threw away dollars, pounds and other hard currencies. The money became trash not even as worthy as the garbage that it was placed within. If you were not born at that time, ask those who lived the dark days of blight and satanic might under a Ghana that became hell when mighty men disgracefully fell.
As the days of the 1981 stratocracy moved on, hundreds of business people were murdered in cold blood under the pretext of corruption. People settled feuds by the gun under such unwarranted excuses. But I remember hearing the rumour that Sani Abacha gave J.J. Rawlings 5 million dollars in the late 1990s. I thought it was preposterous that such a person who killed hundreds in his days of "house cleaning exercise" could turn around and indulge in the same crime. Lo and behold, his conscience exposed him. Karma, karma, karma!
He claimed that he took 2 million dollars and not five million. Mr Rawlings, whether 2 or 5, the crime was committed. You took a bribe. Do not argue that it was a gift and try embellishing it with beautiful English.
You committed a crime for which you must be sent to the firing squad to face the same punishment that you bitterly forced on innocent victims and their families. Your wife is no different. Her stories are like those of the secret adulterer whose underwear is hanging for all to see the filth and smell the stench.
John Mahama is no better. He is an advanced prototype of Jerry John Rawlings. A passive character more corrupt that corruption can be. In fact, the whole world knows of John Mahama's endemic tragedy being the most corrupt person to ever ascend the seat of power in Ghana.
In Dubai, Ghanaians have become synonymous to money laundering. Almost every taxi driver knows the locations of the properties of John Mahama, Roland Agmabire et al. Recently, a friend of mine visited Dubai and the taxi driver who fetched him from the airport asked his nationality. Of course, my buddy was proud, so he answered, "GHANAIAN" with an almost indelible glee. As a bird shot down by a hunter, the driver immediately told him, "Ah, your President is John Mahama! He has lots of properties here, heh!"
What a shame. No wonder we are indebted to the tune of 40 billion dollars that President John Mahama cannot account for. This is the real tragedy. I wonder what kind of lies he has been telling Ghanaians on his deceitful and shameful "accounting to the people" tour.
John Mahama must be impeached, stripped off his immunity, and prosecuted! His case must serve as a deterrent to all those leaders who take over the reins of power only to loot, loot, and loot again, while the masses, suffer, suffer, and suffer more!
