  How do you reconcile the fact that the mortality rate today is higher than before.It is misleading to say that the that the mortality rate was higher than today because that will be contrary to the evidence.
  
  The reason for that is because of scientific and technological intervention.To say chemicals chemicals are the reason for what you claim is not exactly correct.Herbs have their role but medical intervention in illness is the answer.
