Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua
Following the demise of the centenarian Asantehemaa Nana Afua Kobi Serwaah Ampem II, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II issued a blanket blackout on noise making, funeral celebrations and other related activities in the entire Ashanti region and in all the divisions falling under the Asanteman Council.
Did that blackout encompass the installation of chiefs and public performances by chiefs, thus, traditional celebrations by chiefs that are not related to the death of our great queen who happened to be my mum simply by one of her names?
It did happen that on Monday 21 November 2016, the purported Kumawuhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua installed a sub-chief in Kumawu as well as sitting in state to welcome another newly-installed Kumawu-Wonoo Manwerehene.
If all public activities were banned or have been banned until the traditional duration of showing respect to the departed queen is over, does a chief performing the activities as mentioned about the alleged Kumawuhene constitute a contravention of the blanket ban?
I should think the Kumawuhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua who subserviently prostrates to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in a manner that denigrates the Kumawu Kodua Stool, might have realized that the blanket blackout on all activities as contained in Asantehene’s orders had no legal backing; the order was not strictly binding on him hence the right to perform his traditional duties.
Anyway, the members of the Kumawuman Subjects Living Abroad are still waiting for a true certified copy of the form(s) filled out by Dr. Yaw Sarfo, before he was gazette as Kumawu Omanhene.
Who signed the form(s) for him? Was it not supposed to be signed by Kumawu Kontrihene, the Acting Kumawuhene? Kontrihene was dead when Dr. Yaw Sarfo submitted his form(s) so who signed it or them?
Why is the form supposed to be a public record now hidden somewhere in Manhyia Palace? The truth will soon out.
Dr. Yaw Sarfo can install everybody in Kumawuman as a sub-chief of some sort, the long arm of the law will eventually catch up with him.
I shall soon write my views about the Chief Justice, Mrs. Theodora Georgina Wood, on this Kumawu chieftaincy saga in relation to some letters that emanated from her office and signed by her to cause the court cases to be adjourned sine die.
If that is the legacy she wants to leave behind after her many years as the Chief Justice of Ghana, I shall not mince words telling my views as they should.
The corruption in Ghana through the abuse of positions and power must be fought and condemned without fear or favour.
