This is the problem; some of you support parties like you support football teams. It does not work that way, you vote for your welfare and issues and if not making progress with one party you move to the next or better still stay independent. I guess Akua Donkor has learned to play that game well and gained tremendously personally, she is already wooing the NPP.

Understand following JJ blindly , even though JJ voted against NDC this time. I know some things don't change - this is what I call voting against yourself but glad to hear that NPP's vigilance was also observed in the VR perhaps resulting in the 300,000 (compared to 2012) less voters.
Liz, I know it is a daunting undertaking to try and change hearts and minds but keep at it who knows the younger ones may see the light.

You totally disrupted a year of the ndc government on a spurious premise of election rigging and pink sheet nonsense and now you are singing a different tune.Let me end up by quoting you for the records.
"An IT system cannot add or deduct from votes obtained at the polling station and recorded on pink sheets. I don’t, therefore, understand how an IT system can help win or lose an election, unless we are talking of fiddling".

Your indomitable spirit inspires me a lot. I am one of your silent followers since your days with Graphic Corporation. Ho West is my constituency too and you are spot on in your account of political events. Its a tough terrain but certainly NPP is more visible now than in those days when NPP posters never lasted more than 24 hours when posted in public places. The current generation is more accommodating and may be, just maybe, the next generation will accept

For the NPP supporters and leadership that are blind to facts I say check the voting records and you will find that Nana Akufo-Addo won because of voters from regions other than the Ashanti and Eastern regions. NPP did not win this time around because of the voters in the two NPP strongholds of Ashanti and Eastern regions; to deny this fact is to be foolish and dumb. But instead of being grateful and trying to evaluate, analyze and understand facts we have a jubilant NPP including you, Ms. Elizabeth Ohene, who have chosen not to learn from past mistakes of the NPP and NDC.
Did the people of the Eastern and Ashanti regions not vote overwhelmingly for NPP in 2008 and all the previous election cycles? What changed this time around is the people of the other regions who chose not to follow blindly or are not tribal voters of the NPP kind.
For those of us who follow and read published articles not for titillation or to cheer on those that incite and feed into mob mentality but to be informed on issues, the problem goes on unabated. We do know and understand that what we have faced in Ghana since 1966 continues today and may well continue to exist well after the Nana Akufo-Addo era because of the dumb, tribal and partisan advice floating around prior to and during this NPP victory celebration. Every single civilized industrialized Western nation boast of effective, professionally manned institutions with documented best practices and procedures. To believe that younger inexperienced ministers and or J. J. Rawlings caused the downfall of Mahama's NDC administration is to believe young qualified professionals with more foresight and innovative ideas will have to wait till or the so-called experienced over the age 50 people have died and gone. Former president Kufour who has become an NPP demi-god failed to strengthen existing institutions even while creating new ones without best practices and procedures in place making his additions become the cash cow for partisan hacks to steal from Ghana’s national coffers. It is those very institutions added by Kufour, such as the YEA that continued to feed the Mahama’s NDC administration with easy money.
Donald Trump is about to run the most powerful nation on earth, the USA, without a clue on being a dog catcher but understand how to cheat people, avoid paying taxes and engage in racial rabble rouser rhetoric. But in the USA even Trump can count on government institutions with professional staff and standing best practices and procedures to help his government succeed in some areas even if he turns out to be another jackass of a president. In Ghana we never grow to get over meaningless political victories that continue to feed the insatiable appetites of party leaders hell bent on stealing to get rich at the expense of us all.

Your article is just simply inspiring. We can feel what you have gone throughout the years and the fact that you keep pushing against the grain is what make it a powerful story. Your description of the activities of Mavis and her colleagues shows with preparedness and discipline and patience the Volta region can become the growth story of the NPP. Thanks so much for you and for people like the NPP agents!! Gradually we shall gain the trust of the wonderful people of Volta region.
