truth is that once a bond has been issued its terms cannot be varied over its life! however, granting that it could change, wouldn't the 19.75% be subject to change, too? we are better of reflecting soberly on all the issues raised before opening our mouths, cos our leaders will leave Gh behind and it is the younger ones who will bear the brunt of their thievery etc! have u reflected over the fact that it is your (our) taxes (and that includes loans taken) that a government is charged to manage at any given time, and that when they steal from these monies at any given time and we don't condemn them and also demand that they be brought to book, we are selling our birth right for a mess of pottage? in fact, we would indirectly be saying that we don't know how to use the rewards of our sweat so these governments we appoint should use them as they please! are we that double unwise?

But being a true citizen I will not give NPP a blank cheque.
If the difference between the relatively short term interest rate percentile and the long term percentile, as being demonstrated by Ato Forson, hold some germane reconsideration, then we need to bailout the political water and critically examine the transactions.
What must be done in my opinion is to call in the transaction book builders and allow an independent investigation to ensure transparency and also assess the financial cost of the transactions to Ghana. The progression and variation of interet rates though not a precise science can be guesstimated in an acceptable over a period of time.
No politician and for that matter, a minister be given "carte blanche" cheque, not even Akufo Addo
We the people must be vigilant and hold our leaders accountable particularly NPP members

The greatest tragedy to the Ghanaian, is the Ndc. This party created so much debt overhang within the last eight years. It so much suffocated them badly, they had to run to the IMF for relief. The tide changed at the polls in December last year, when Ghanaians told the Ndc in the face, they have had enough of their incompetence at managing the economy. Ghanaians voted for an incorruptible leader and the NPP, to clean the mess and stupor the Ndc has created. Like a spoilt child, the Ndc is throwing tantrums at efforts being put in place. If the Ndc has the quality and depth in finance as they shamelessly want to address in public forums. Why did they run the country into so much debt within eight years, with two presidents in tow? They should just keep quite and learn from their betters.

Conceded "Rightwing" all your outlined persuasions but I have lost faith particularly in Ghanaian politics when it concerns money.
Notwithstanding, the massive corruption and woeful incompetence of the NDC, it still behooves us, as vigilant citizens, not just supporters, to test all faith, not to allow politicians to take the nation for a ride albeit notwithstanding the political colour.
We need to follow the paper trail. Supposedly if Ken had initiated a transparent and ethically above board transaction, then there is worries allowing an independent investigation tor proof his integrity and exceptional acumen international finance. It would also be an enlightening learning curve for the nation to understand govt bonds and their impact on the economy as happened in 2012 when NPP went to the Supreme Court over the election

"Mr. Speaker, if he is switching, as at April 17, the 91 day has a coupon rate of 16.35% and the 182 day has a coupon rate of 16.7%. We are borrowing at 19.75% and we hear that we have made savings because of the switching. Per my calculations, if you borrowed an amount of USb$2.25 at 19.75 and used it to switch a short term debt of 16.35%, you would cause the State GHs m330 losses per annum. If you multiply it by 15 years it gives GHs b4.95 as the total loss to the State! So, where is the savings coming from? ”he quizzed. Good work there Casiel. and what was the minister's response to this? insults upon insults so he can bluff his way through! u can be sure nadaa hasn't heard, nor has the minister in charge of procurement! i strongly suspect that our coffers are going to be looted like no man's business whilst all those who in the recent past made themselves the conscience of the nation sleep or lose their voices!
