Today, I write about Thyatira, a church so generous in giving that it fed the saints and gave back to society. They graciously honored those who had laboured for the word and doctrine. A group of people known for charity, service, faith and patience.
But What happened to Thyatira? Where did the abomination come from? What went wrong, for the holy ones of God to trade their glory for shame and disgrace?
Who influenced Thyatira?
In Revelations 2:18-29, the Lord spoke about the Church of Thyatira - a church corrupted with the evil deeds of Jezebel. They are everywhere in the world today and I'm sure very few have paid attention to the book of revelation.
In many parts of the world, the church of Thyatira is speedily spreading. They look noble, decent and full of love. Charity is their hallmark. Revelation 2:19
“I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first."
These are the most enviable virtues to talk about - Love, service, faith, and patience. There are churches all over the world involved in many charity works backed by great faith. They believe in God and they serve the church very well. It is, however, interesting to note that, it is not just enough to be involved in charity works, have faith that moves mountains and serve the church. This doesn't make the church grow as the scripture has noted: "...the last are more than the first".
Yet, there is something wrong with this Church.
Revelation 2:20
"Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols."
Sexual immorality and idolatry was what was wrong with the church of Thyatira. The church had been seduced with sexual lust and stupidity. Because of the supposed love for people, the congregation allowed the enemy of the church to seduce them. Today gay and lesbians have been allowed into some churches. Sexual sins are going on in many churches and they have refused to address them.
Thyatira is no longer in Asia alone, it is everywhere in the world as long as the church is concerned. These churches stand on the vain use of the word "love" to infiltrate the church. They build schools and sodomize little children. They take the oath of celibacy and fornicate with their nuns. They commit the abominable sins themselves; man against man.
Some are orthodox, worse of them are charismatic. Many of them are lying on filthy beds. Those who claim to be ministers of God, are liars from the pit of hell. They can't speak the truth, because they want to please every individual because of their selfish gains.
Who is Jezebel?
Jezebel stood against the prophets of God. She killed the prophets of God and seduced many into fornication. Today Jezebel is something they call "human rights." Jezebel is an institution indirectly opposing Christian doctrines.
Jezebel is the government that disallows the Bible from being read in schools.
Jezebel embraces every religion. They are the universalists; forgetting that there is only one way, one truth and one life. Jezebel, is also the Christian body of institution making laws to prevent the free flow of the gospel.
What will happen to Jezebel? And what will happen to the church of Thyatira?
Revelation 2:22
"Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds."
Great tribulation awaits those who flirt with Jezebel. Great tribulation awaits the church which succumbs to the evil intentions and deeds of institutions against the church. It doesn't matter your former toil, service and charity to the gospel, if the evil one is not thrown out of you, your destination is hades. A supposed minister of God could defend Christ on a worldwide television while at the same time flirting with the Jezebels of this age. You are amassing wealth at the expense of the gospel; tribulation awaits you.
The Lord will repay you according to your works of righteousness. It is your righteous deeds that will earn you entrance into the Holy city of God. Your righteous deeds will grant you crowns in heaven and nothing else.
Revelation 2:23
"I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works."
What must the church of Thyatira do then?
Revelation 2:24
“Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden."
There is an evil doctrine out there. It is a doctrine they call love and grace. Their lack of understanding has made this doctrine to seem that sin is no more unpleasant. The pure doctrine of Christ detests and restricts sin. Christ is strict on his doctrine on sin; It is not open to change. Christ doctrine on sin is in Mathew 5, 6 & 7. He did not loosen the knot; He tightened it.
Many believers who claim to have Christ, are rather into the depths of Satan. They know Satan more than Christ. Gracious me! If you will desist from that doctrine and keep the righteousness of Christ at work in your members, you will surely make it. You shall receive your due reward in heaven.
Revelation 2:25-27
"But hold fast what you have till I come. And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations— “He shall rule them with a rod of iron;
They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels’—as I also have received from My Father;"
Endure any tribulation in righteousness and receive your reward. Remember what Paul said before he died.
2 Timothy 4:8
"Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."
Glory to Jesus.! Amen and amen. Our crown is one of righteousness. God rewards the righteous but the evil one will perish. If you find yourself in a church of Thyatira please leave. If you can't change them, run for your life. Any church which makes you comfortable in your sins is not the right church.
Stay away from the influence of Jezebel, oh people of God! Repent and the Lord will put on you a white garment of righteousness. Stay away from a ministry whose leader cannot speak against sin. Stay away from a man of God whose interest is wealth and power. Tread cautiously as we are in the end times in this world.
