Can Albert Adu Boahen point to one structure, road or infrastructural development on Mfantsipim campus that was paid for and continues to be funded by Mfantsipim old students? Do you not know why most institutions in Ghana are bursting at the seams with students? Is accommodation and teaching staff not the root of limited annual freshman intake? So pardon me if I am not hip to worthless nostalgic sentiment, Adu Boahen fan club, but I do not buy into a self promotion that is being offered in the article. We will all be better off in Ghana if we stopped waiting on the ineffective and inefficient government we built and started doing things at the individual level to help Ghana.
The Adu Boahen family could and should suggest that old Mfantsipim boys pay $500 each for a science endowment fund on campus that starts with the construction of an ultra-modern science building that will house some of the latest in experimental science equipment and a library section that houses online access/linkages to sources that will help with explanation and understanding of aspects of physics, chemistry and other science areas that tend to be a source of failings of science students. It will be $500 well spent than some concocted book of meaningless Mfantsipim history that does not bring one cent of meaning to present day or past students.

I wonder why this review now. This book is 20 years old. The author died a long time ago. Why is there a review by someone who bears the author's family name now?

Those who are complaining about Adu Boahen writing this review are clearly quite illiterate. Why do illiterates go about making such a nuisance of themselves?

Your rants are uninformed. You seem not to know what THE SCHOOL has sought to do with its wide network of old boys and the Methodist Church. Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) is the most organized old students' association in Ghana. Year group contributions to the school's development is an annual ritual.
Your suggestions of a $500 contribution to an endowment fund is well taken.
Get Prof. Adu Boahene's book. It will illuminate your mind on the history of Ghana's Educational development.

The Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast will from the next academic year cut the number of student intake, headmaster of the school, Malfred Barton-Oduro has announced.

He said the school will from September not take more than 600 fresh students, explaining the decision was taken in view of the current inadequate infrastructure to accommodate the student population
