During the 2000 electioneering period, Mr. Kufour and his NPP made us believed that the NDC and its followers were corrupt. In fact the message the NPP sent across was that our dear Nation was sinking with corruption. We were even referring to them as thieves after we took over from them. Honestly this message went down very well with us. It is this same message that compelled Ghanaians to give NPP the then leading opposition party the mandate to save the country from sinking.
So we thought we were giving our mandate to honest people to steer the affairs of our country. All this while, we thought corruption has been eradicated entirely from Ghana by these honest men and women voted into key position in 2000 election.
Recently series of corruption charges had been levelled against People of key positions in Mr. Kufour's administration. Even professor Mills has thrown series of challenges to the honest and dedicated the President to clear the air but to no avail. The understanding I personally got was that maybe Mr. Kufour want to do his own secret investigations before he could react to these numerous challenges from the opposing camp.
The last of such challenges was thrown to Mr. Kufour again by Professor Mills at Cape Coast. This time Mr. president responded. Surprisingly the respond was disappointing and considered unfortunate. The only response that our honest president could give to Ghanaians is that corruption started from the days of Adams. This response means that Mr Kufour endorses corruption as part of human institution and that nothing worries him if some of his appointees are corrupt.
The questions that Mr. Kofour needs to answer to Ghanaians before the next elections areas follows;
- (a) if Mr. kufour knows that corruption started from the days of Adam, why then did he deceived that NDC Government was corrupt during the 2000 electioneering period?
- (b) Why should some NDC ministers notably Mr. Kwame Peprah be sent to jail, if corruption is accepted within human institutions as said by our president?
