President Akufo-Addo wasn’t even shy to list the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police as one of the independent state institutions that investigated allegations of corruption and cleared the individuals involved and not him as president. How shameful!

Yes, the CID is supposed to be an independent institution, but that cannot be said of its state and form under President Akufo-Addo.

Allegations of corruption were made against your two deputies chief of staff. This matter was assigned to an investigative officer, she proceeds to clear these individuals based on what we thought was a professional and deep investigation. Soon after, an audio recording had emerged which contained evidence of the said criminal investigations officer on the said case, cajoling and coaching the whistleblower in this matter, to cooperate and to help shelve the matter since according to her “the people are your people”.

Till today, the said audio recording which contained voices so close to those of the two persons mentioned, A-Plus and Maama Tiwaa Addo, is yet to be investigated. It has been brushed aside.

Then, moments after that clearance from a clearly compromised investigations by Maame Tiwaa Addo, she started enjoying very unusual promotions that has currently brought her a step to the top, IGP.

Is this wrong for anyone observing from afar to say that she is being rewarded by the appointing authority for her collaborative clearance and shielding of these two deputies chief of staff whose matter was wiped clean when she was to work on it?

Under such circumstances, would the guiding principle, if motivation is derived form promotions since that conduct of hers, not be to always clear individuals of this administration of corruption and make them clean anytime their issues are referred to her office? Would this not qualify as her part of the bargain?

So under the circumstances, could the CID of today, under the authority of Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo, be said to be an independent institution that had done independent work with reference to corruption issues of the Akufo-Addo’s Government?

It’s a big NO! The institution is compromised in my view!
