50 Coaches complete Right To Play course

Accra, Oct.17, GNA-Right To Play, a Non-Governmental Organization that uses sport and play as a tool for promotion and development of children has developed three modules which would soon be implemented to enable children to develop their talents more efficiently.

The three modules are Early Child Play, Red Ball Child Play and Live Save Play Save.

Mrs Joyce Ashun, Country Manager of Right To Play announced this at a graduation course for 50 coaches of the NGO in Accra on Friday. The coaches were trained in sport and play and the use of modules used to teach children in schools for their intellectual, social, emotional and environmental development in the Ga West, Ga East and Ablekuma Municipal Assembly. The Country Manager said sport and play contributes immensely in the socio-economic development of every aspect of human endeavour and that it must be started from the grass roots well for the benefit of the younger generation.

Mrs Ashun said so far the organization has trained more than 835 coaches who have also trained about 35,000 children throughout the country since its started operation in Ghana in 2001. She asked the graduating coaches to impart the knowledge acquired from the course for effective teaching and learning. Mrs Ashun also asked other coaches to take a cue from the graduating ones and take their lessons seriously to enable them complete the course to be of benefit to their communities. Mrs Emma Baaba Quarcoo, Ga East Municipal Director of Education praised the organization for their immense contribution and for bringing up healthy children through physical education programmes. She appealed to other benevolent organization to emulate the shining example of the organization to support similar programmes to ensure healthy children in the country.
