Accra, Jan. 7, GNA - This year's Achimota Golf Club President's Putter Open Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, January 12.
Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the club, who announced this in Accra on Monday, said the one-day 18-Hole Medal Play competition, which is open to both amateur and professional golfers is expected to attract over 120 participants. He said the event, which marks the beginning of the Club's year of activities, would be sponsored by Mr Mike Ezan, President of the Golf Club. Mr Oteng-Aboagye said the competition has attracted a large entry as compared to last year and it would be played under the local rules of the Club.
A crack number of players including Paul List, Daniel Dennis, Charles Tabi, C.C. Adomako, Mike Ben-George and Nick Small Man are among an array of golfers who are expected t o battle each other for the Putter. The Ladies event would also witness stiff opposition from Mary Asafo-Adjaye, Clara Price, Florence Etwi-Barima and Mona Captan.
