Tema, April 18, GNA - Peter Amenyo returned 65 net to win this year's Bok Nam Kim Memorial Open Golf championship played at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday.
Amenyo played 34 net In and 36 net Out with a handicap of five, to lift the magnificent trophy donated by Afko Group of Companies, sponsors of the 18-Hole stable-ford competition, which was in memory of Mr Bok Nam Kim, former Chief Executive Officer of Afko Group of Companies and President of Tema Golf Club who died in 1995. Mr Kim also single-handedly sponsored Ghana's contingent to the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea.
Isaac Quarshie came second with 67 net; Aaron Akaful won the third place with 68 net beating Tony Ashiagbor and K.S. Kang on count-back while E.T. Mensah took the sixth position with 69 net. Suzie Kumassah won the Ladies event with 70 net, Joy Arkutu placed second with 71 net while Maria Ben-George was third with 73 net, beating Beatrice Vretsche-Bempong on count-back.
Emos Korblah won the Professionals category with 138 gross, Victor Brave-Mensah was second with 139 gross, Vincent Torgah took the third position with 141 gross while Baba Akologo placed fourth with 143 gross. Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs described the late Mr Kim as an industrious man whose contribution to the club had made it what it is today.
He charged the members to emulate the late Mr Kim who had contributed a lot to the development of sports in the country. Mrs Young Oh Kim, Chairperson of Afko Group of Companies on behalf of the company presented a cheque for 10 million cedis to the Tema Country Golf Club.
